Terminator 2 - The Ultimate HD-Edition (HD DVD)

Figured I'd migrate this title out of the Overseas HD thread since this release looks to be the most definitive release of the film up to this point and might be the most advanced title on either format...

Finally the Guns 'n Roses video, have brought T2 3 times on SD-DVD. Have held of getting the UK or French HD-DVD. Thank goodness for region freedom of HD-HDVD.

Also despite not including a lossless track, this marks the first time the film has received a discrete 7.1 mix.

LionsGate needs to get their act together and release this in Blu-Ray over here in the US. ...So long as this improved release isn't artificially pumped for contrast.

Actually David Mackenzie of DVDTimes was the one who videotaped that IFA 2007 trailer above and said the snippets of the film shown looked much better than the Studio Canal HD DVD.

Kinowelt stated they're "open" to a Blu-ray edition, but they have no plans for one at this time. I assume it's because they'd have to get ImagionAG to rewrite everything in BD-J.

This is probably a stupid question, but which is the version to get: the Kinowelt or ImagionAG release or have I misinterpreted it?

wow. good thing I didn't pick up that French version yet then

wait... does that say that there will finally be an actual commentary with Cameron? not just audio clips from interviews?

Kinowelt is releasing it while ImagionAG produced the disc for them, they also produced SPV's HD DVD of Motörhead - Stage Fright.

The T2 Extreme DVD released in 04 (i believ eis the year) has a full Cameron screen-specific commentary

Now I've bought region free dvds before. Sorry I'm slow to catch up on some of the hd dvd stuff. I still only have the 360 AO.

Looks great.

So many versions & double-dips on this title I honestly now don't give a shit, enough is enough.

I just got T2 Extreme DVD and I was wondering if anyone knew what version is longer Theater or special? also what are the differences between the Special Edition And Extended Special Edition? I have found out I never did get all 3 versions of the film. Oddly I got this dvd after watch the HD version of it so its probably going to be bad compared to it ah well it was only $10

Special edition is longer than the theatrical, with an extra 16 minutes added throughout the film. It's definitely the best version of the film.

The Extended Special Edition adds one extra scene plus a new ending on top of that.

any idea when this will be showing up at Xploitedcinema? I have a whole whack of HDs that I want to get from there and I've kind of been waiting until this version of T2 was out before making my credit card cry.

I've preordered this with Amazon.de and MovieTyme were going to list it on their site last week, which hasn't happened yet. Hopefully MovieTyme will list it and be a bit cheaper than Amazon.de.

There is only one BD version AFAIK, it is the theatrical cut, and it is basically similar to the Studio Canal HD DVD except the BD has significantly more compression artifacts.

So basically:

Ultimate HD DVD Edition > Studio Canal HD DVD Director's Cut > BD Theatrical Cut
