Universal needs to pick it up.

As of this posting they only have 3 announced titles. Heck Paramount has more.

August Rush
Bonnie & Clyde
The Brave One
I am Legend
In the Valley of Elah
The Invasion
Justice League: The New Frontier
Michael Clayton
No Reservations
Twister

Universal,

American Gangster
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Fletch

Paramount,

Bee Movie
Beowulf
Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 2
Things We Lost in the Fire

Paramount and Universal need to drop it. Holding out now is only hurting the consumer, because these companies are releasing only new titles and very few catalogs titles when some of them have awesome catalogs they could be releasing.

the title should be "Universal needs to give it up"

they are really only taking advantage of consumers and only causing further confussion in high def DVD marketplace right now

once there's one format joe six pack will be more likley to adapt and then bluray can focus on wiping out regular dvd's

its either a holdout for a sony payoff or just pure stubborness, but they need to drop HD sometime this year if we wish to have high def DVD become the norm in a few years

I think given that the writing is more or less on the wall at this point, they probably don't want to start rushing product out when they know it will have low sales numbers and they'll just have to do the work all over again for blu-ray. I'm sure hd-dvd disc sales are probably suffering almost as much as hardware sales now. I know I stopped buying any hd-dvd discs and probably won't buy any more unless it's one of my all time favorite films I can't live without. Universal is just holding back so they aren't wasting any more money.

I just counted their hd-dvd releases for 2007 and I count 85. That's pretty close. So you really can't knock them in the release department.

I bet that includes all the movies that were re-released as non-combos.

Universal is probably waiting for their contract to expire before they go neutral or bd exclusive. They probably have to fire Ken Graffeo. Paramount is probably waiting to see what happens to Universal. Really, Universal holds the key...kind of like the way it was before Paramount went exclusive. Where was that dominoes graphic again?
