Me too. At least I got the BB bonus disc, the content of which will probably not be ported over to the BR (but who knows). But this'll be a quick turnaround on a double-dip for me (if only for lossless audio).

Anyway, I'm excited for this slate, limited as it is. Still, anyone else surprised that neither Sweeney Todd nor Transformers were part of this initial rollout?

Yeah, it was probably not hard for Paramount to do the turnaround on those movies for 5/20, since they were already pretty much made for bd before the switch last august. And they have had quite a few months to get their ducks in a row to get their big titles out for this summer. Good news to have Paramount releasing movies again.

Still Cloverfield is coming and i just hope we get a PCM, TrueHD or a DTS-HDMA track for the movie. I want my subwoofers to hurt.
why did they say ''no country for old men'' that not a paramount title

It's a Miramax / Paramount Vantage coproduction. In North America at least, Miramax controlled home video rights, so we saw a release. Elsewhere, Paramount might control those rights. As this is a press release for not just North American, but global distribution, the passing note on NCFOM seems to be for "other folks out there"

Looks like the discs that were already released will have identical specs to the old releases thus far (like Face/Off).

I wouldn't be surprised if these discs hadn't already been made, and were just sitting in some warehouse waiting for the day when blu-ray would be victorious. Face/Off was already on the blu slate when Paramount made the switch. Same for Blades of Glory and Next.

The only thing that pisses me off is that I paid $22 for the There Will Be Blood SE (in the shitty cardboard case). If I had known the announcement was going to be so soon, I would’ve waited. Still good news, though. Cloverfield in lossless is going to be insane!

On the contrary, he'd be likely to trumpet any blu-ray features he knows, being a huge supporter. So I'd believe him on this one.

And you have to remember that Paramount, before switching, had made a pledge to start creating lossless tracks for their movies. Formerly, all Paramount audio tracks for blu-ray were just DD tracks, while hd-dvd tracks were 1.5 mbps DD+ tracks. The Paramount initiative of having lossless audio was praised at the time. I would not be surprised if the bd versions of movies already in the pipeline have lossless audio on them.

I don't buy locally unless there's a sale. Amazon is way cheaper and they've had it out of stock for a while now. Finally they have it again.

There Will Be Blood has a reversable cover for those who prefer the poster art.

I've heard amazon has new dates of July 1 for There Will Be Blood and Weeds: Season 3.

This however is just at amazon, as other stores are fully stocked.

Did anyone else have trouble finding Cloverfield last night?

I went to 2 Blockbusters to rent it and they didnt have it available, and when I went to Best Buy, they had to go and get it out of the back.

I originally wasnt even interested in buying it that much, but because it became such a quest to find it I ended up doing so with some 5 rewards zone bucks.

I had a gift certificate to Wal-mart and the first one I went to didn't have Cloverfied. I had to go to one in a different town to pick it up. I watched it last night and realized just how awesome it was. I might actually watch the extras for this movie.

You can still get it. It will just be delayed. My Weeds: Season 3 has been delayed, but that's not too much of a problem, because I am behind on my blu-ray watching as it is. Looking forward to it though. Season 2 ended on cliffhanger.

Paramount is releasing Beowulf with a Dolby TrueHD track. This will be an interesting test to see if DD+ versus lossless is noticeable.

Just look to HighDefDigest.com to let you know that there is indeed a difference between the DD+ HD-DVD and the import TrueHD version from Warner Bros

Although both are given a 5 star rating for the sound they do mention the greater TrueHD track difference to the HD-DVD DD+ track
