Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem & AvP

I'm confused!!!!!

Various sources indicate that there is a "Special Edition" of the original AvP coming out on April 15 via a Boxed Set with AvP: Requiem (even Amazon has it for pre-order!)

I just read that a Fox "rep" stated that there is a "Special Edition" in the works, but that it won't come out until later this year.

Amazon.com: AVP - Alien vs. Predator / Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem (Unrated Two-Pack) [Blu-ray]: Movies & TV

Fox Prepping New 'AvP' Blu-ray with BD-Live, PIP | High-Def Digest

Why can't these companies get their **** together? How to they expect for people to jump on the BD ship if they're confusing the hell out of them????

Maybe they mean that an "Unrated" edition is coming out on April 15th, but ANOTHER version is coming later on that has new PIP/Live 2.0 features?

What's confusing about the announcment? Fox is double dipping on AVP to match the release of their new AVP:R movie. Like jbat said, no surprise there. You will likely see repeats of Evil Dead, Terminator 2, Halloween, among others. If you don't want to buy the special release, then don't bother. I plan on getting the AVP:R movie, but I don't think that I need the special features stuff of the new AVP, so I'll keep my old movie.

The original BD version was PG-13...the one coming out in April is UNRATED.

I wouldn't call that "special" release--it's the way the movie should have been released to begin with! I'm sure it'll be a whole new experience considering that the PG-13 didn't have any "on camera" death scenes.

As for the "later" release, I'm plannning on passing on that one. I'm one of "those" types that just wants the movie and couldn't care less about special features.

I just found it a little odd that Fox was this "in your face" about having two future releases of this movie....
