Heroes: Seasons 1 & 2 (Blu-ray)

Quote:
Universal has announced their first TV-on-Blu-ray release, with plans to bring the first two seasons of 'Heroes' to the format this August.

Only hours after revealing their long-awaited debut wave of Blu-ray releases, Universal is already off and running with further announcements, now setting an August 26 Blu-ray debut for 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two' (the latter due day-and-date with the standard DVD set).

Due to the early nature of the news, there are not yet any tech specs or supplement details available for either set (although 'Heroes: Season One' is expected to contain an extras package comparable to the feature-packed HD DVD version released last year).

Universal has also not yet set a suggested list price for either 'Heroes' collection, but says full details should be revealed shortly.

I will definitely get Heroes: Season 2. Unlike some that didn't like the season, I thought it was great, and can't wait for this fall for Season 3.

Don't they need to finish airing season 2?

No, Season 2 was shortened because of the strike. They are starting Chapter 3: Villains (Season 3) in the fall, I presume.

Yep, season 2 is over already (and not a moment too soon as most of it was awful). I too hope they'll be able to port over the U-Control extras to the blu-ray disc. Normally I don't really care about them, but it was nice with Heroes to be able to examine the paintings on their own to look for clues.

Sweet. Have Season 1 on HD-DVD, but that wont bother me. Can't wait to watch these in BD. I didn't get to see it on TV, so I watched the whole season through my PC connected to my TV. Not the same effect.

I watched an episode last night of Season 2. I was saddened that Universal didn't do a fancy intro like they did for hd-dvd for blu-ray. I still think that Disney has the best intro. That said, the menus were tons faster on the ps3 than they ever were for any of my hd-dvd players.

The PQ was really good with expected grain, and very nice detail and color. The DTS-HDMA audio was pretty good as well. This is my first Universal purchase on blu-ray, and I am happy with the results.

Really? I think the intros are pretty silly, since they're essentially ads touting the format you're already watching. Putting them on SD dvds, as Universal did, makes sense. But being pitched a format I already own is a waste of disc bits.

I am postponing my purchase of Volume 2 until its discounted. The last 5 episodes are still up online if anyone wants to see them before Volume 3 starts.

ive been having problems with Disc 1, like midway through Episode 2 "Lizards" the screen freezes up and then turns black, and I get a INVALID DISC error. I am using a Playstation 3 as my Blu-Ray player, have all the latest firmware updates, using HDMI for my video signal. I went to Best Buy and exchanged my first set and came home and poped in the new disc 1 and went to the chapter I left off at and got a little bit further and it happened again.

Yeah, I like them. They may be silly to others, but I like to see how creative the studio got with a new format. Maybe later on when the format is mainstream, it can be forgotten, but I like the effort put in now. The great thing with bd is that there is plenty of room for them to do these intros. Fox's is pretty lame, Paramount's is generic as well as Sony's, Warner doesn't have one, and Disney made a cool intro. I was hoping for something more flashy from Universal, but oh well.

I'll try Lizards when I get home. I have a ps3 as well. Episode 1 played fine, and episode 2 was playing fine, but I stopped it to watch something else.

I just finished watching Episode 2: Lizards with no problems at all. I have the 60GB ps3 if that makes a difference.

I am currently using the 60GB as well. I'll try it that ep out when I get the set in the mail. (probably sometime next week) The newer 80GB has the smaller IBM cell but I've never heard of any major issues with that model either.

Do you have the wireless ethernet option enabled? If so try turning off that.

I watched the entire season without a glitch. I'm not sure what's going on with your setup. Perhaps there was just a bad run of discs?

actually its my PS3, cause i was playing Madden lateron and the same thing happened with the game, so im figuring it has something to do with the Blu-Ray drive on the PS3, luckily im still under Sony's warranty so their sending me a pre-paid shipper and are replacing it for me!

Sorry to hear about that, but it's a good thing they are replacing it for you. Seems to me that finding a ps3 nowadays is tough to impossible.

Huh? I can walk into most any BB, CC or Walmart here and find tons of them on the shelves. Hell, I've even saw the 80gb one in both BB and CC over the weekend.

I went every week in August to Best Buy to see if I could get a ps3, and there were none. Except for a day, the ps3 was not available online, nor for store pickup either. I have checked the inventory status online for area stores, and hit a zero on that.

The only reason that BB is important is because of Reward Zone and getting points. And also because they give good financing deals which help pay for all the toys I like to get. The problem is that the finance promotions are often in-store only, and if there are no ps3's to get in-store, I run into issues.
