This is great news. A title that I have been waiting for on Blu-ray since I got my PS3. I was reminded the other day when I watched Black Hawk Down on BD and realized half way through that I would rather be watching them fight giant bugs. I can't wait!

Finally!! I have been waiting on this patiently since it was mentioned that it was coming out, and when Australia got it last year.

Can the only way you get the first one be if you get all three? I might buy this at Best Buy if Amazon doesn't come through with ordering just the first movie.

Joshua Zyber has told forum members to avoid the 3rd film cause it sucks @ss. I didn't find the first one at Amazon, but it is here,

DVD Empire - Item - Starship Troopers / Blu-ray

I was going to get the 3 set, but then I saw how utterly terrible the third movie looked like from the trailer on Urban Legend, that I am cancelling my order of the 3 set, and looking to just get the first movie. The 3rd movie looks horribly bad.

Why did you guys wait for this release. The region free Australian and UK releases have been out for close to 12 months now. I have the UK one, as I didn't want to wait an extra month for the Australian release. (A must have film in my book)

The extras although not a factor for me, are quite substantial on the US disc though, so if you did wait - there'll be some benefits

I waited because while I like the film, I don't like it $42 worth, which is what the import would have cost. By waiting a few months I can pick it up for about $18. Considering the huge number of blu-ray (and hd-dvd and dvd for that matter) discs I haven't had time to watch yet, odds are it would have sat on the shelf for these months anyway. Why spend double what it would cost otherwise just to own something I won't have time to watch for a while anyway?

Honest to god, worst movie I've ever seen. And if you don't think it can get worse for this series, check out the hi def trailer for three on the PSN. I won't see it just so that SST2 can keep it's spot on the top.

Such a shame too since the first one was so very clever and enjoyable.

I never bothered to see the second movie. I saw that 3rd movie's trailer on the Urban Legend bd. I am glad I did, because I would have ordered two stinkers when all I really enjoy is the first one.

Something about sequels to Paul Verhoeven films that never turns out well (Robocop, Basic Instinct, Starship Troopers). Scary thing is that means Showgirls 2 would be even worse than the original.

Me too, the effects were dated even for the time, but it was enjoyable. There is no Robocop 3 anyway.

I had not seen Robocop 2 until I found it at a used laserdisc store (back before DVDs), and I bought it blind for $10 used (that was cheap back then). It was so horrendous that I sold the laserdisc on eBay as fast as I could.

Robocop 3 was at least more tolerable with the cute Jill Hennessy.

Never did see the 2nd Starship Troopers flick. I've been waiting for it to come to cable on the Sci-Fi Channel or such, as I've had a mild interest in it when I read that Phil Tippett (SFX guy from the original 3 Star Wars movies) was the director of it.

Yes, and Peter Weller not coming back to his trademark character, the ridiculous death of Lewis, and an incredibly dumb flying Robo saving the day made it more tolerable.

Yup, and with all that crap, it was still better than Robocop 2.

Neither of the two sequels or tv series were worth anything. If you want a good Robocop sequel, read Frank Miller's graphic novel of his original script for Robocop 2 that was butchered by the film.

The same director who did Empire Strikes Back did Robocop 2. How could it go wrong?

I remember seeing Robo 2 in theaters & while it was no cinematic masterpiece it was at least more entertaining than I thought it would be. Not better than the original of course but not pure crap neither.

The studio is where Robocop 2 went wrong. It wasn't really the fault of Kershner or Miller. In fact Kershner was brought in at the last minute when Tim Hunter quit over creative differences and really had no input on shaping the story.
