Torchwood S1 blu-ray (in the US!)
I knew there was a reason I held of on importing the UK disc. In the press release for Torchwood Series 2 on dvd, they state they will be releasing Series 1 on blu-ray the same day, September 16. Suggested retail price is $99.98. Too bad they're not releasing Series 2 on blu-ray at the same time.

Yup. That's the codename the first series (of the newer series) went under while in early production.
I tried to like Torchwood, but just can't get in the groove of it, I guess. I only made it about 1/2 way through series 2, and haven't taken the time to watch the rest... but that's just me. I bet they look great on BR, though. Hey Dugpa, is the current series on Dr. Who still being filmed in SD only? Just curious.

Yep, Who is still in SD. I can't see them changing over any time soon. The effects are just too expensive to render in HD. Who knows though, maybe in 2010 when it comes back for series 5 we'll all get a nice HD surprise.
As for Torchwood, I actually thought it was more consistant than Who the last couple of years, which seemed to have run out of steam in series three. Though series four of Who is kicking ass, so things are on the upswing. Torchwood I've considered solid both series. |

I've heard a lot of good things about this series, so I might check it out in HD.
