UniversalHD has been showing it, not a drastic improvement since the film is so dark.

Well you can't really go by broadcast HD, as the BD version of anything is always better... however yeah I can't see that large an improvement over that. Really Escape From L.A. should be a demo disc whenever Paramount gets around to it.

Well it doesn't seem that the Russell/Carpenter commentary is on the disc, a bit dissapointing, but I've heard it a couple times anyway. Otherwise, sounds like a no-brainer upgrade!

The DVD specs on the right hand side say it's Region B, while the review says it's all region. Hmm...

I'm thinking the Region B part on the side, may be a default thing.

Theres a local site, which updates when the disc has been properly tested, so when the result is in, I'll throw up a reply - if no one else can confirm before then.

Need more info on this. In the user comments on that review, a guy says he tried the disc in his PC and it came up as all region. Seems to be conflicting info, but most indicate region free, keep fingers crossed!

And btw this is EXACTLY why HD DVD should have won!

I usually get my UK imports from Sendit.com. They ship to the US, and generally have excellent prices.

Good call on Ebay.co.uk, got one for $34 US shipped. Very happy to get it now since nothing comes out this month, and next September is gonna try and drown me with domestic releases. How is the PQ?

As was every one elses on AVS, just another of lifes lil jokes being played on me. It's on the way now from the Ebay guy though.

From the pix on AVS, it looks to be a pretty crummy release though. Hopefully the domestic release will use a different transfer.
