Back to the Future on Blu-ray

Report: Universal Plotting 'Back to the Future' Blu-ray Release | High-Def Digest

Back to the Future is coming to blu-ray apparently. This is a great movie to do a remastering on and I can't wait for it to come out.

Wait, they're not releasing the trilogy?

Maybe I should have read the press release.

It looks like the revelation of the new transfer was only for the first movie. The others were hinted at, but nothing solid from Universal, or Bob himself.

I'd only be interested in getting the first film on Blu-Ray. Don't like the 2nd & 3rd enough to consider upgrading to Blu-Ray.

I really have an utter disdain for these films, even though I was in the target kid age for Parts 2 and 3 when they were first released.

I liked part 2. Part 3 was terrible and unnecessary.

My main gripe with 2 and 3 is the invention of Marty's Achille's heel: his overreaction when someone accuses him of being chicken.

It didn't fit with what was established about him in the first movie, and it's such an unattractive personality flaw I liked the character less for it.

Other than that, I have no problems with either sequel. Sure, they both had their flaws but overall they were fun films that had some fun with the whole time travel concept and how it can impact the present.

That said, I think I'm with limacharliewhiskey in that I can only really see myself upgrading the first one.

For me these are simply part of my childhood, and I love them. The 1st of course being the best, part 2 being not quite as good but still lots of fun(I actually probably liked the second better as a kid, because of all the bright shiny things ), and part 3 is very meh, it's just this side of enjoyable.

And yeah the chicken thing is dumb, it's completly opposite of the rest of Marty's personality. And it was obviously the only way the filmmakers could find for him to agree to do some of the things he does. Looking forward to the Blu Ray releases for these!

I'm sure they'll do all three at once in a box set. Though the first one is the one I'd really want. If the box is cheap enough I guess I'd get it.
As for the second and third films, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis talk about in the commentary on the dvds that they never intended on doing sequels and really didn't plan for it or have any ideas ready. They were sort of forced into it when Universal said they were going to make the sequels with or without them.

Seems odd they wouldn't release them all as a set. I will pick this up, but not until all 3 are available as a set.
