Also Tarentino did in fact include the B&W because he both wanted to, and it would please censors. It's an homage to an old TV show where scenes would go black and white when there was oncreen violence, a way around the sensors. Plus in the Japanese version, there's a bit where The Bride slashes a guy on the upper banister, and clear water spurts out of the wound, clearly intended to be in black and white.

No problem.

Also, according to BluRayRegionCodes.com the North American release of both the Kill Bills are region free, so there's a good chance they will be released region free in other parts of the world too.

But since Japan's region A and they're the ones with the colour version you're probably alright either way.

I have never heard of that show; do you remember the name of it?
Also, about the guy that has "clear blood": watch it again and you will see that it was one of the guys that fell in the pool, thus it is not blood but water, just another reason why black and white is not as good for that scene, because you can't tell the difference when you are supposed to.

My bad, it was actually an homage to two kung fu movies that when aired on American telivision in the 70's, they switched some scenes to B&W. Third paragraph in the vital stats section of this review. Blu-ray Review: Kill Bill Vol. 1 | High-Def Digest

And no, 1st off this guy was killed on the upper balcony, nowhere near the pool, and second the clear blood spurts out of him as she slashes him. I would take a screen grab but I've already given the KB DVDs to a friend.

The scene in question is 2:45 seconds in and the quality here is not the best, but you can still tell that he is wet he charges at her. He is one of the guys that got knocked into the pool when she did not kill the kid yakuza (the small scene was cut from the american release, though they did keep his being spanked.) Water is coming off of his hair and arms, obviously not blood spurting from a wound across his chest. Watch it again when you get the DVD back and you should need no further convincing.

Though with this new info about Heroes Two, I am not sure anymore about it purely being an edited thing. I still prefer the color version, but now I guess it could go either way. Thanks for the info on that!
