Faces of Death

Faces of Death is being release on October 7th:
Blu-ray.com - Faces of Death Coming to Blu-ray

I remember seeing this as a kid and it freaked me out. I suspected it is fake and have heard arguments on both sides of that issue, but I am really surprised this is coming in blu. I definately plan to buy.

I never saw it, but of course heard about it. I probably will rent it instead. It seems like an interesting choice, but I have noticed that horror movies are getting a great library started up in HD. I think it has to do with the ps3 crowd.

Jesus. So we get to hear a monkey scream in agony while it's skull is being slowly smashed in 5.1 surround.

Wonderful.

Much of the first film in the series is faked (like the monkey, execution, the alligator, the guy on fire), though some of it isn't.

Not really, Horror is one of (or thee) most popular genres in terms of the sheer amount of releases on DVD, so naturally Horror on Blu-ray has huge potential.

True. But I would say the demographic audience would be heavily skewed in the ps3 direction. Needless to say, I am happy to see horror getting a lot of good releases. I am still hoping to get The Amityville Horror (the original) from MGM at some point.

Really? I didn't know that as it has been years since I watched it. From memory, and believe me - those memories were undoubtedly skewed, the monkey thing was real.

Wasn't most of this shot on 8mm and old broadcast analog NTSC? Why bother with HD? Oh yeah, there's a buck to be made from the PS3 crowd. Never mind.

Definitely going to skip on this. Didn't like these when they were on VHS.
