These are part of a huge mega-blockbuster trilogy in Russia about supernatural forces battling for . . . something. They're not the most coherent of films. The first one is fun, and has some great, interactive subtitles. The second film was just scatterbrained and excessive. The third one has not yet been completed as Bekmambetov stopped to make Wanted.

The first film is definitely worth a rent.

I have been waiting on Day Watch and will probably pick it up on BD, though I think I will skip upgrading my Night Watch SD-DVD.

Night Watch was definately worth seeing for fans of the genre.

Haven't gotten around to watching Day Watch yet, though. I am interested in what he does with Wanted, though.

Both Night and DayWatch are available thru Netflix' Watch Now (streaming) feature, BTW.

Interestingly the Japanese BDs of these two already released there by Fox have Dolby TrueHD tracks instead of DTS-HD MA.

I'll pick up Night Watch....

Both films are horrible. The story is a just a mess and the action is not really there. There is a few seconds here and there but its cut up and edited you cant tell whats going on. Just a mess.

Night Watch was garbage and Day Watch was even worse.

That's actually the complete opposite of everything I've read about Night Watch.

I thought Night Watch was pretty fun, especially for vampire genre fans. The animated subtitles are very cool and it's a shame they didn't continue that unique aspect in Day Watch.

Day Watch is not particularly very good.

I'll probably upgrade my copy of Night Watch.
