What blu-ray discs should I rent to show off the format to friends?

We're going to some friends of ours for the 4th. They want me to bring my PS3 so that we can play Guitar Hero. They also want me to rent a couple of movies. I want to rent some Blu-ray's that will blow them away or at least impress them a little. Any suggestions? It needs to be something pretty recent and for a general mainstream audience.

The Pirates films (especially the second, IMO) are pretty spectacular. If they're not averse to more kid-friendly fare, Cars and Ratatouille are amazing. Planet Earth is also reliable demo material. The list could go on and on; just be sure to NOT rent, say, 28 Days Later or Bram Stoker's Dracula.

I own the first 5 you mentioned. I might bring a few of them. Oh yeah and highdefdigest reviews are my bible. I was just wondering if there were any new releases that were especially impressive.

Newer movies would be Chronicles of Narnia, Rambo, and I was always impressed with Vacancy.

Narnia sounds like a good choice. Not sure about the splatterfest with the other two.

I got Enchanted. My queue skipped over Vantage Point (even though it said now for availavility) and added National Treasure 2. Narnia is looking like a good one to round out unless someone suggest something else. Maybe I'll switch Vantage Point to dvd. I wanted to see that one.

Vantage Point has been getting some excellent reviews for PQ. I'm interested in seeing this one myself (the Rashomon conceit never gets old for me ).

Anything Pixar will work so for that mean Cars and Ratatouille. If they are available then Bee Movie will do the job too. Bright colours and 3D pop to go along with it.

Live action wise i would say Live Free or Die Hard (also my top audio demo), Casino Royale and 3:10 to Yuma was pretty good too.

Well it may not be a great movie but it looks and sounds great, Spiderman 3. Also just got my copy of V for Vendetta, WOW! Haven't checked 300 out yet but heard its supposed to be eye and ear popping.
