Nightmare on Elm Street (Blu-ray)

Apparently a preorder has been put out on it, so it must be on its way. Can you say automatic buy???

I met Englund at a comic convention once. He was eerily nice. All he could talk about was how pretty our town was and how nice everyone had been. Throughout the convention you could hear him scream stuff like "HA HA HA you’ll never wake up!" as he pretended to strangle fans.

Hopefully the Blu-ray won't be edited like the DVD editions.

How so?
Jesus, every time a movie gets announced for Blu-Ray it seems like somebody has a comment about past versions being cut/altered/having changed color-timing/soundtrack problems/too much grain/too little grain etc etc. Are there any movies out there that haven't been dicked with in some way???

Well, in some cases I think certain movies have had so many rereleases and quintiple dips that there are multiple "dicked with" versions. I believe that is the case with NOES, which had several versions released.

I doubt the uncut version will surface again. The old Fox UK VHS was uncensored, but since then, every cut available on DVD has been the R-rated one.
The differences are minor to say the least though.

Despite this being pretty much my favourite horror movie, i can't see myself forking out for it again unless they put out an amazing extras package.

Unfortunately, it will be Warner. New Line has been fantastic with its transfers, while Warner has been great with a lot of movies, but given the shaft to quite a few as well.

New Line fucked up Pan's Labyrinth with excessive DNR. So they're hands aren't clean either. But since New Line no longer exists it's a moot point anyway.

If it were Newline, it would be out late next year accompanied by the other 6 films all with top knotch transfers. As it is, I'll happily get this, Freddy rules!!!!

Yes so be prepared for no lossless audio.

The only real disappointment video wise from the New Line titles I've viewed was Semi-Pro. Pan's looked alright to me, sounded awesome too.

Now Warner will take away the awesome dts-HDMA tracks New Line has been shelling out.

Actually this is probably the only New Line BD without fucking DNR. God forbid people look real, right?

Also the Nightmare series has always been with New Line.

Maybe because my HDTV displays a lot of noise, I don't mind DNR as much as you do.

Yep, unfortunately by the time this sees a release WHV will have acquired full distribution rights.

The only reason I'd hesitate to buy this is I have a feeling they'll release a box set of all movies on blu-ray at some point in the future, and I'd end up having to buy this first movie all over again.
