anyone getting bond blu rays?

I see those get released this week and wondered who is getting them. I am probably going to have to wait for cheaper prices, but wanted to know about quality etc.

I'm happy with the lastest DVD box set release. No need to buy them on Blu for me.

Already too much coming out to justify getting all of them, so I'm just picking up Die Another Day for now.

Getting the Amazon 2-fer pack which includes the 6 releases.

One of my last DVD purchases a few years back was all the films in 4 volumes. All for around $200. They also look good upconverted so these Blus better be good.

I might get one or two when they drop in price. Until then, those current single-disc editions are just fine with me.

Looking at the pics on DVDbeaver I cant believe how much better the PAL dvd of From Russia with love looks over the region 1 disc. The Blu is far, far better than the region 1 version, but I see no reason to upgrade for people with the PAL version. This is not as apparent with Thunderball as the PAL version looks quite soft.

Thanks for the links SilentBob.

Yep I do see improvement over SD upcon. Not night & day, but color is a big step over the SDs as well as fine object detail. Now where are the links to sample the audio people!?!?!?

I knew there was a reason I never replaced my Bond collection with that new and improved version from a few years back!

Now, tell me these Blu-Ray sets have video transfers that are on par or even better than the upgraded DVD collection. If so, I'll be getting them.

I'll get them at some point, but not when 2 $60 games every week are on my shopping list.

Bond was the very first movie I watched on DVD and since then I've picked up 2 more.

Typically the picture quality on the older tiltles isn't that much better then the SD versions. Maybe Goldeneye and Die Another day will look good.

I'll wait and see how the reviews are.

So I hear that there might be an authoring problem with some of the Bond BD titles where they won't work in pretty much any player except a PS3?

Yep a couple of them have problems on certain Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, and LG players. Basically every BD manufacturer that exists

The authoring house of these discs truly did a stunning job on QC. Tested it on just the PS3, then shipped. Good one guys, apparently you aren't aware of how poorly defined the BD-J spec is.

This thread reminds me, i still haven't gone through the Ultimate Edition set i picked up over a year ago. Therefore, there's no chance of me upgrading.

I have word from an insider close to the source that the playback failure of 007 For Your Eyes Only is due to an authoring error - a corrupt JAR file that some players can deal with and others cannot. Not due to BD+, lack of processing power, etc, but rather a problematic JAR file. FYI for all those involved.

If you have an issue with playback, I found this number to report disc issues that should help:

I can confirm that there aren't any issues on the 350. Unless the problem is in the extras, which I haven't looked at yet.
