One of the greatest compilations ever.

The whole series looks good. I'm intrigued by the Heart, and Sly Stone sets.

How does the sound compare on this one, from the individual remasters ?

Thanks for sharing !

I got two 45s last night at the Virgin Megastore Orlando for. They were Pharrell featuring Jay-Z Frontin' (side one)/Busta Rhymes [i]Light Yo A** On Fire[/b] (side two). And Young Bloodz Damn (side one and two).

Now That's What I Call Music! 13
Mariah Carey Through The Rain (<-- I think??!) and some shitty Ricky Martin latin CD, I think it's his new one. I got those three wonderful CDs out of a skill game, for free. I got a way of getting them . I going to try and return the Ricky CD at the Virgin Megastore and get something good.

I picked up Dope's new cd called Group Therapy today and I am really impressed with it. They really put sometime into it and it sounds great.

Lead Us Not Into Temptation-Music From the Film Young Adam
David Byrne

Such a gorgeous soundtrack! Its mostly instrumental, and he's working with Scottish musicians from various bands like Belle and Sebastian, Mogwai, and others. Its pretty jazzy. At times it reminded me of the Tindersticks work on Nannete et Boni, but with strings and a little more darker. The last two tracks are songs and I have to say that they are the best things I've heard from Bryne...and its on Thrill Jockey!

Burnt By The Sun - The Perfect Is The Enemy Of The Good

After two times through listening to BBTS's new cd I'm very disappointed.
Nothing on here comes close to matching Buffy and You Will Move from the s/t ep or Dracula With Glasses and Famke from Soundtrack To The Personal Revolution. It seems like they just decided to abandon any sort of groove. I will give it a few more tries to see if it grows on me but I'm not hopeful.

I don't have the individual remasters, however, I do have them on vinyl. Naturally the difference is night and day and some songs like "Hazy Shade of Winter" NEVER sounded better, I don't care about previous releases or not. This is definitive demo material. Truly reference quality CD.

The Eagles - The Very Best of...
Van Morrison - What's Wrong With This Picture
Pink Floyd - Live at Pompei DVD

Earlier this week, I picked up the Pretenders DVD, "Loose In LA", among others...Steve Morse's "Sects, Dregs and Rock and Roll", and Paul Weller's "Live at Braehead".

Surprisingly, this DVD has a good, vivid, LOUD sound, and the band hasn't sounded better, and stronger ! Worth checking out !

The DVD clocks in at a generous 140 minutes, and Chrissie Hynde hasn't lost ANY of her chops ! I was VERY surprised, and impressed, with the strength and conviction of her performance here.

Here's a tracklisting....Lie to Me, Time, Message of My Love, My Baby, Talk of the Town, You Know Who Your Friends Are, Time the Avenger, The Homecoming, Up the Neck, Fools Must Die, My City Was Gone, The Losing, Biker, Complex Person, Nothing Breaks Like a Heart, Back on the Chain Gang, Don't Get Me Wrong, Kid, Rebel Rock Me, Night in My Veins, Tattooed Love Boys, Precious, I'll Stand by You, Middle of the Road, Mystery Achievement, Brass in Pocket, You Know Who Your Friends Are

Thanks for the information !

It's pretty good, sound A-, performance A. The set list focuses more on his last 2 records, but there is plenty of old stuff, notably Guitar Town, Copperhead Road, and a great cover of What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love, and Understanding. I AM a big fan, having all of his albums, and having seen him a bunch of times. It's a very good performance, with the patented Earle political patter between songs.

I also picked up the posthumous Joe Stummer and the Mescaleros CD yesterday. His best work since the Clash. A sad thing, as it will be his last. RIP Joe!

Hatebreed - The Rise Of Brutality

This just come out today but I can safely say this is my favorite heavy album of 2003! Monster riffs, killer hooks and some of the best breakdowns ever recorded. I can't wait to see these songs performed live. There will be blood in the pit.

If anybody has any interest in metal/hardcore music, I suggest you download This Is Now or Straight To Your Face and see for yourself.

I picked up the new 40 Below Summer cd and I am sure most of you probably have never heard of them. I also piced up Hatebreed: The Rise Of Brutality and I love it. I have listened to it 3 times and it gets better and better each time. I think it is their best album yet.

Barenaked Ladies - just got the new one and though it came with a nice little DVD of acoustic in-studio performance, the overall record is bland as fuck. Maybe with a few more listens...

I might pick up that new Hatebreed on the good word though...

Kidneythieves - Zerospace
This is just kind of blah. A few good songs but most of them have the same vibe and tones. I won't be listening to this much.

Shadows Fall - The Art of Balance
These guys have been listening to too much Slayer and Anthrax, but thats a good thing. Stepping Outside The Circle is my fav so far but there are 7 or 8 really solid songs. This cd is making me more excited for Nov 24. Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall and Lamb of God. \m/

edited to add
Heck, if you decide to pick up Hatebreed I'd really be interested in hearing what you think of it.

I also got this the week it came out, and totally agree with you. I was taking a trip out to PA and my girlfriend and I listened to it on the way out, and both agreed it was very boring and bland. I haven't had time to sit down to the DVD yet.

Outside of that, just picked up Peter Gabriel's "Hit" this week, which is awesome! The only thing I'd change on it is, as much as I love the song "Love To Be Loved", that needs to be taken off and replaced with "Come Talk To Me" as far as hits go.

I'm also amused at the labeling of the two cds...

Damien Rice - "O" - pretty fucking great stuff if you're into the whole David Gray-stlye acoustic singer/songwriter stuff.

Samhell - Never did pick up that Hatebreed. I did go to their site to give it a listen, but it's a little too screamy/barky for my tastes. I like it when Neil Fallon does it, but there has to be some break in the monotony of it for me to enjoy it. That's why I can't get into bands like Morbid Angel and the like. To quote Beavis...."Whoa...was that a bear?" (upon hearing the first grunt of vocals on a MA song.) I always loved that line...

Some Best Buy price hikes on catalog DVDs (for example You've Got Mail goes from $9.99 to $14.99) forced me to leave the DVD section and head for CDs, so I got...

Nirvana: Unplugged in New York - finally got around to buying it!

Thats cool Heck. That vocal style is kind of an acquired taste. Thanks for your thoughts.

I visited Austin this past weekend and spent way too much money at Waterloo Records.

Her Space Holiday - Home Is Where You Hang Yourself V2.0
Reminds of a suicidical The Postal Service.

Tub Ring - Fermi Paradox
I got to see these guys open for Mindless Self Indulgence a few weeks ago. Remind me of early Faith No More.

Nine Inch Nails - Closer To God
My 2nd time to buy this. An evil succubus stole my first copy.
Worth owning again for Memorabilia.

Vex Red - Start With A Strong And Persistent Desire
Decent. Can't Smile is a great song.

Caulk - Imaginary Enemy
Late 90's Dallas alternative/hardcore band. I was glad to find this.
They always put on a great show and were great supporters of the local scene. Good stuff.

Velvet Acid Christ - Fun With Knives
Another succubus victim.
