Haven't had a chance to listen to that one just yet, but it is their first album actually. It was never released domestically when it first came out, so now they're putting it out here.

I'm not too sure what I think of the new Fiery Furnaces album. I haven't listened to it a lot, but it's certainly different, with the grandma on it. If nothing else it's interesting.

Unfortunately I have to admit that this is the first CD of hers I've owned, so I can't compare it to the rest of them. I guess the best I can say is this: I wasn't terribly impressed with it. It's certainly not bad, but it didn't really "grab" me. That said, after hearing it, I do intend to purchase her earlier releases. I really like her voice and some of the music was really... pretty, I guess... so I'm interested enough to give her earlier stuff a try.

I probably wouldn't recommend it to anybody who isn't already a fan, and I don't know enough of her earlier stuff to know if people already into her would like it. I know that's not a lot of help but it's the best I can do. Sorry.

I AM a big fan, and I'd put this record somewhere between Hounds of Love and Sensual World in the sound of the music. My favorite is The Dreaming. It's pretty solid, with only 2 tracks I really dislike (both on the first disc), and the second disc is very good. A solid B+

Waaaaayyyyy better than The Red Shoes.
