Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs
and
Stone Temple Pilots - Thank You (DVD Version) yesterday.

I can't recommend the STP DVD any higher. It is really a packed solid disc and it did NOT leave me dissapointed in the least. In fact, the 'bootleg' section was a real treat and a great surprise. Unexpected highlight - STP (minus Weiland but plus GLENN CAMPBELL) doing "Witchita Lineman."

It got pushed up 2 weeks (to 11/14) but I was able to get it a day early at FYE. I'm so glad that I got it a day early (lol). I don't think this will be Jay-Z's last album, but if it is - it's really good and he's going out on the top of his game. Thank you for 11 awesome albums Jigga!

Damien Rice is great. Terrific lyricist and an incredibly soulful singer. I find most of today's acoustic singer-songwriters to be incredibly bland and disposable, but I might have to pick this one up.

My last CD purchase was the soundtrack for Kill Bill. I am not ordinarily one for soundtracks - I'd rather go out and buy music by the featured artists that I like instead of buying what I find to be essentially a factory-produced mix CD. But Tarantino's soundtracks are different - they produce such vivid memories of the movie for me. I'm already jonesin' to see it again. Screw Christmas, I'm ready for February!

For those who have the new Pearl Jam, what do you think?

it's really good. I like that the b-sides are either re-recorded or alternate versions. the new (old?) songs are really good, especially Fatal and Sad. Definately worth the $12 at Target.

Mr Tony, there's a cd/dvd version of "O" due out later this month that I pre-ordered. It's actually cheaper than I could find the normal cd version. All I've been listening to is downloaded versions. Rolling Stone.com has a really great acoustic video of a few songs you should check out.

Its pretty cool. On the first disc you get the original release plus the unreleased Chic mix of the album. The second disc has a bunch of unreleased stuff, some of which are pretty good, like the Supremes medley, and Fire Don't Burn which sounds like vintage Motown. It was pretty expensive but if you're a Chic fan pick it up for their mix of the album, its drastically different. Never realized what a great album that was.

New Things...ANYONE have them yet ???

How about the new ZZ Top box set ???

Has ANYONE gotten the MOBY new DVD set titled "18" ? Is it REALLY over 5 hours long ?????

At least available in the UK....

I see where there is a new, 2DVD Style Council video out there titled "The Style Council On Film"...ANYONE ?????

How about Genesis Live At Wembley Stadium DVD from July 1987 ?

There is also a "new", now official Lou Reed, John Cale, Nico Cd set live recorded at Le Bataclan, France Jan. 29, 1972 on Pilot.

Thanks for sharing !

I'll have to keep an eye out for this. I have the 2 concert Paul Weller DVD (excellent), as well as the Complete Jam DVD (awesome), and an old Weller solo show on a Japanese import laserdisc. I guess you could say I'm a bit of a fan! I did just pick up the new Jonathan Richman concert disc (haven't watched it yet), and my newest CD buys (to keep it on-topic) were:

Graham Parker - Human Soul (used for $3) and
The Bottle Rockets - Blue Sky - Saw them live again recently, great set, excellent CD.

Anti-Hero, what do you think about Seasons? I like it. There's a few songs that sort of blend together in a bland kind of way, but overall, there's some great, catchy hard rock going on with that cd. Butch Walker did a great job producing it. I'm glad they're leaning more towards the singer's r&b strengths more.

Seasons is one of those albums that you can listen to all the way through and keep entertained with the music, there is not one dull track on there. I love the whole album.

As I Lay Dying - Frail Words Collapse
Nice combination of technical and more brutal riff oriented metal. Good stuff.

Speaking of metal, last nite I saw the MTV 2 Headbanger's Ball tour with God Forbid, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage and Lamb Of God. Great friggin show. Good sets from all the bands but Shadows Fall was the one I enjoyed the most. Lamb Of God really got the crowd going as well.
