Battle of the Rock Trios, part #1: Nominations
Ok, welcome to the "Battle of the Rock Trios"!
![]() The goal is to identify the best Rock trio of all time! This thread is for nominations only. The only real rule is the trio must play Rock music (classic, heavy metal, alternative rock, current rock, Fraggle-Rock, you get the idea). The band must not be together today, but it would be cool if they are. If the band has changed personnel, list the members of the arrangement you think was the best. For example, I nominate Primus (Claypool, LaLonde, "Herb") vs whatever form they are in now. Got questions? Ask away!!! This isn't very difficult so have fun with it. We'll run this for about a week, then we'll have a few rounds of voting to establish a winner. ![]() My nominations:

Nirvana, all three amazing musicans, although Cris and Dave get overlooked a lot due to Curt's legacy.
Beastie Boys. Kickin out the jams white boy style. Blink 182. While I don't really enjoy a lot of their newer work, back in '97 Cheshire Cat was my favorite album of all time. Of course, I was all of 17 and just getting into punk rock and their at the time new blend of pop songwriting, punk riffs and irreverent made an excellent first step. Dude Ranch was a pretty amazing album as well. The original Ben Folds Five lineup. Ben Folds, Robert Sledge and Darran Jessie. Folds is one of my favorite songwriters, I really admire his ability to take an un-rock type instrument set and really make some rockin' songs. There's more energy in some of the BFF's rock songs than in some entire albums by lesser artists. |

King's X is very influential in their genre.
Not as influential as Rush, but after them, the biggest prog-rock/metal power trio.
