Ok, introduce me to Green Day

Recommend an album that presents Green Day at its best.

Peace...

Start with American Idiot. I think it's their best album and one of my favorites of 2004. After that, go to Dookie and work your way forward. I wasn't a fan of Kerplunk, but some may tell you to start there.

I agree. American Idiot is my favorite Green Day album. Dookie is second. Nimrod is cool too, but I like the ones I mentioned already better. The only other one I've heard all the songs to is Warning. I do happen to like all the singles from Insomniac.

I would start with their first album and go through them chronologically. This way you can see how they evolved as musicians.

The "International SuperHits" DVD (Also available on CD), which is a compilation of music videos, is a 5/5 if you ask me. If you don't dig this DVD don't bother buying anything else Green Day. Also "Bullet in a Bible" is a great concert DVD, it's mostly songs from American Idiot though. The nice thing is that it's a DVD/CD combo.

If you want to avoid a concert or greatest hits collection then I would have to agree American Idiot is the best.

Haven't rented it yet, thanks for the reminder. I'll add it to my queue now.

EDIT: It's in the queue now and I should watch it in the next week or so.

Peace...

Start with The Clash, and then the Sex Pistols, followed by the Ramones. Finish off with Green Day.

Any piercings and tattoos you may get after this are at your own risk.

I wouldn't start with American Idiot. I'd start with Insomniac, or if you want more of a mainstream opening then Dookie.

Ok, so I watched Green Day: Bullet in a Bible tonight. The verdict? I dunno, I guess punk isn't my thing. One of the main things I love about Rush and Primus is the musicianship. Those guys are kick ass musicians and it comes out in their music. I just didn't get any of that from Green Day. That's not to say I think they suck or anything just that their songs sounded a bit mediocre to me, but that shouldn't be a surprise since I guess it's the message in the lyrics that's the most important thing either with Green Day or punk rock in general.

As for Tre Cool being "the best drummer in rock 'n roll"...

Thanks for the recommendation of the concert DVD and for the introduction to Green Day.
