I must be getting old, because I can’t watch MTV for more than a few minutes before getting irritated and turning it off. However, I caught this video the other day:

I’m still not sure what I think about her, but I like the video. It’s got more personality than most of the stuff I’ve seen recently.

When I was channel surfing, this video was the only reason why I stopped and gave her a chance. Very cool video even though she can't sing. But since when has anyone on MTV lately been able to sing?

I spend my time hanging out at VH1 Classic for my fix.

Yeah, I saw that this is getting enough of a push that LS actually got a write-up in NEWSWEEK, but I'm not sold. She's huge in the UK, but that's never a good indicator of prolonged U.S. success; Just too, too.... British. Think of Robbie Williams, or Sophia Bextor Ellis, Kylie Minogue (yes, she's Aussie, but she's HUGE in England), the solo post-Spice Girls solo projects, or the myriad other Britpop bubble-gum pop acts that just don't translate to the American market. Something about the dorky lyrics or the "Euro" production just can't usually catch hold in the States. They've been pushing this on the alternative radio station (KROQ) for months now, and I guess the pop stations'll give it a try soon enough, but I'd predict this name will be forgotten, at least here, in very short order.
