MP3 player
If you were to get your first MP3 player today, what you get? An iPod? A Zune? Something else?
EDIT: Would a mod please move this thread to the music forum? Thanks! Peace...

iPod all the way. I hae heard almost all negative things about the Zune. Plus apple "accidently" leaked the news that their next major version of the full size pod will be touch screen.
I just recently got the second gen shuffle for traveling around and use my 4G full size pod at home and in the car. The nano is a very good choice as well to bridge the gap for portability and features. I had a 1st gen shuffle to take on my trip to south america and have since traded it to a friend for a DVD rack since I was getting the shuffle. My battery is starting to go out on my large pod, but going to wait for the touch screen before upgrading or replacing the battery. Here's an interesting read: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/art...ssons-learned/

Moved.
I think my next mp3 player will be an iPod Nano, perhaps when they come out with a 16GB version, since it will be tough to pare down from my current nearly-full 40GB iPod. But I think it will be worth it for the smaller sized Nano. |

I just use my PSP w/ 2 gig memory Duo for listening to music on my train commute every day. It holds about 600 songs, and if I don't feel like listening to music, I can play Tekken.
I hear iPods are popular/quality products/overpriced. If I was to get a stand alone player, I'd probably pick up one of those, if for no other reason than the ear buds would give me more cred among the other train riders. The Sony ones that came with my PSP are nice, but they don't have the same cache as the Apple ones. |

I got one of the Dell Jukeboxes back in Dec 2003. It is the 15gb version and has been good and sturdy, but I hate the software interface and I wish it would act like a jumpdrive and just be able to drag files over to it. I can't do that and have to go through a long process through their version of MusicMatch. It is quite a pain to upload to.

I recommend the second-generation iPod nano 4 GB, if you can afford the US$200 for the player.
But if you can't afford that and you're running a Windows-based machine, I recommend this model: Panasonic SV-MP2020W ![]() It stores 2 GB of music, sounds really good, and best of all, can run as much as 70+ hours on a single AA alkaline battery. |
