2-Channel Listening Recommendations

Since I got my new front speakers, I’ve actually been doing a lot of 2-channel listening. Suddenly all of my old CDs sound new and shiny again. I’ve also noticed that not all CDs were created equal.

So, with that in mind, please share your 2-channel listening recommendations or just post what you’ve been listening to and enjoying.

Ok. Since I already suggested (a while back) Tin Pan Alley by SRV, I guess I'll suggest (given the time of year) anything by the GRP label. Specifically, the Charlie Brown Christmas stuff and this stand out series:

The first 3 are in my opinion great.

Next up would be Robert Cray to see what you think. I mean that since on my B&W's, I found it a bit bright (until I tubed myself!)

Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here and the classic Dark Side of the Moon .

I'd throw in a little Peter Gabriel

Just about anything Beatles. Maybe this for starters.

Throw in some ZZ TOP

And finally...STRONGLY RECOMENDED: Pat Metheny

Well, that's all I have to offer right now. The GRP and Pat would be my foremost pics.

Not sure what kind of music you like, but if you like good music: ( )

Steely Dan - Aja
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly
Dave Brubeck - Time Out

Of course, this time of year I'm listening mostly to Christmas tunes. My three favorites are:

Chicago: 25 (Their Christmas album)
Rockapella Christmas
Harry Connick, Jr. - When My Heart Finds Christmas

That's a good start.

I would highly suggest the Talking Heads dual disc reissues. Talk about leaps and bounds over the previous cds.

Steely Dan is a great choice. Shame on me for not including them!

So PH...what is your prefered style of music? I'm curious man!

I like a lot of different stuff, but my favorite is classical. The sound of an orchestra or even a single violin just does it for me.

This year, I’ve been discovering a lot of new artists like Joanna Newsom and Lupe Fiasco (I have very little love for recent hip-hop) that have broadened what I normally listen to. I even enjoyed the new Christina Aguilera album.
