Look fwd. to this release very much. Arrives on my birthday as a matter of fact. I'll be treating myself to this as a gift. Early word is it's quite different than Funeral, but I think Arcade Fire is talented enough to pull a lot of sounds off.

I've heard a couple songs off the album, and it sounds pretty solid to me. While those two sound different than Funeral, there is no mistaking that it is Arcade Fire. Can't wait!

i got it for promo purposes a few weeks ago and it is very well-done. It's like funeral in terms of consistency -- you know it's arcarde fire. and while there are a few "rebellion"-type jams on it, it's similar to funeral in that there are also some laid back pieces.

it's a must-buy imo. . . .

On 1st listen I think it's another excellent effort. The music drowns out the lyrics on a couple of tunes, but that is a minor gripe. Neon Bible seems to be slightly more dense than Funeral as far as subject matter goes. I'll be finding out in the coming days how this holds up to repeat listens.

I'm on my 3rd play through so far and i believe (much llike The Shins _Wincing the NIght Away) The music and lyrics just becoem better and better. willa gree that we don't have any big Rebellion(Lies) or my fav Wake Up but the album doesn't really lose a step anywhere. SOme songs the first time through i was meh on and but 2nd and now 3rd they seem to work. Currently my favs are:

Intervention (probably my fav track)
My Body is a Cage (love the pace and tone)
Black Wave/Bad Vibrations (i had this as one of my worst songs first time around and i ctually skipped before the half way mark where this song just rocks)
Keep the Car Running (they did this on SNL last week and wa smeh on but its awesome on the album)

my body is a cage is awesome. I played it several times over the first time i heard it.

agree with yall's comments. last night I was dj'ing and played rebellion from Funeral. I was looking for a song from Neon Bible to play after it, but none really fit the mood/drama/tempo of Rebellion. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing

Wow, they ruined "No Cars Go"... and what was the point of using it again?

The album seems so far to be Arcade Fire without a lot of the things that made Arcade Fire unique... seems to be a more "normal" rock record.

I'm notorious for needing a bunch of listens before I like something though.

I actually like this version better then the EP recording. (which i don't think has really sold much so could be a reason for its inclusion) It just sounds overall better to me. The flow just seems to be there and i think the vocals are a lot stronger on it too.

This albums needs those multiple play throughs to enjoy the beauty of what the album really has. How many rock groups use and organ in their songs and/or make them work. On my 6th play through and i'm just loving it more and more. I wish they used the church organ more often and i love when the rest of the bands just joins in on the singing

I just completely disagree with that... The song is now too guitar heavy and the vocal was changed for the worse, in my opinion. Like I said about the album in general, "No Cars Go" now sounds less unique and more like something I would hear on a Clear Channel station, which may have been the point, but I don't have to like it.

And you mention the organ thing like that wasn't much better used and more prevelent in the original recording.

In any case I need more listens before I debate with people on the album itself, but man if I don't hate "No Cars Go."
