Van Halen Announced Tour With David Lee Roth

The weirdest thing about the Van Halen Reunion is not that Eddie has brought David Lee Roth back into the band, but the fact that he fired Michael Anthony and replaced him on Bass with his 15 year old son Wolfgang.

Is Eddie on crack or just drunk again? Why would you fire him? Whats the deal on this? I only heard about this when they announced the Reunion on Friday.

They need to bring Michael back into the band so they can have a real reunion with the original members.

What baffles my mind is that Eddie has always maintained that he never had a problem with making music with Dave, just had problems living with the guy on the road. So....if that holds true, and leopards cant change their spots. Dave will still be difficult on tour. And Eddie wants to subject his kid to this?

And isn't their Child Labor laws against this? Making a kid tour on the road as an adult? Bizzare.

100 Bucks says that during the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Ceremony, that Wolfgang gets up to accept his induction, and thanks all his Fans for buying his "records" that he wrote and recorded with the band back in the 70s/80s.

Ive been wanting the band to get back together since 85. But if its only going to be a truncated version. Fuck it.

The VH bros. seem to only be content if they're pissed at somebody. Not having Anthony on board is a serious misstep, IMO. Par for the course with those guys..they refuse to completely give their fans what they've been begging for these past 20+ yrs.

Van Halen has been making huge mistakes for years. While I'm sure there is a core group of people who will take anything from the brothers, I've given up any kind of hope long ago. I don't think I'm alone in this. I really could care less about them getting back together or touring. They are just to fucked up to matter.

Yeah it's not Van Halen without Micheal Anthony. Even Sammy said he had no idea how much of the back up vocals was all Anthony. His voice was the perfect match for both Roth and Hagar.

I've considered Eddie a joke (as a person, not as a guitarist) and this further confirms it.

Incredible. The Official Van Halen site says nothing of the cancellation

But heard this on our radio news and found this unofficial Van Halen site announcement.
2007 Tour in Trouble

*New* Feburary 22, 2007: The announced Van Halen 2007 tour has been postponed and is reportedly in serious trouble. Various sites report that the planned 2007 reunion tour with David Lee Roth, has been postponed, if not cancelled. No details are available as to the reasons why or when another announcement will be made. Check out this Rolling Stone story here. Check back here for an update when it is available.

Last Friday VH1 was reporting the tour was cancelled.

I also heard this morning that Wolfgang Van Halen was the catalyst for the tour in the first place, which may explain his inclusion in the band instead of Michael Anthony. Still, even not knowing how good of a bassist/singer Wolfie is, I think most fans were disappointed in seeing Michael excluded.

Maybe they'll be able to work something out. It should be obvious with all the hoopla surrounding this vaporware tour that there is definitely interest out there, and with interest brings dollar signs.

Michael was given the boot a couple of years ago and now tours with Sammy Hagar. I read one of their tours was called something like "The other two guys".
He was definitely on stage with Sammy during his New Years eve concert that was playing on I think Universal High-Def.

The next thing you know Eddie will start a period of self loathing and fire himself from the band.

Best interview that never happened. I rather see the VH gang on Dr Phil than on tour.

Stand by. Surely it will be canceled by next week at the latest. Possibly later on tonight.

Michael Anthony does gigs with Sammy Hagar now as "The other two guys".

Yeah, MA and Sammy are good friends. It's too bad that Eddie and Alex seem to hold that against him, since I think Michael's background vocals are an important part of the VH sound.

I hope it's not cancelled, because I'd like to see how it sounds. I'd actually be more worried about DLR than anything, but apparently he's been working hard getting back into shape both physically and vocally.

Well don't cry for MA. He's going to be touring with Sammy and that will more than likely be a much better show than the VH show. I was always a bigger Sammy fan than David Lee Roth.

amen brother. i know there are purists out there that might lynch us for thinking so, but the van halen i started on had sammy and as far as i know he lased the longest with them.

i know it is a nostalgic deal, but i just dont care about DLR enough to go crazy over this possible reunion.

give me another album of quality music and do something amazing with the guitar that we havent heard yet (he promised this several years ago with a 'best is yet to come" statement)

and the Wolfgang thing- I know it's a family affair, but c'mon, isnt he like 16 or something? How are they getting aaround the whole go to school thing, Valerie bitching about taking a kidon the road with a notorious pussy magnet and alcoholic. I guess nothing like learning about life through experiencing it.

Having heard on live recordins and witnessed one of Micheal Anthonys solos.... that kid would never be able to keep up with Eddie in his prime.

I saw the press conference on VH1 last night. While Diamond Dave was doing his usual cheerleading, I just wasn't seeing the love. They all had sunglasses on. Wolf was about twice the size of dad, but that's not saying much. Ol eddie needs him a little meat on those bones.

Nonetheless, it was all very much hype. I guess it's now... show me.
No judgement until they get this show on the road.

A message from Michael Anthony -

Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony has addressed the band's decision not to include him in its upcoming reunion tour with original vocalist David Lee Roth. Anthony, who is instead touring this fall with ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, was replaced with guitarist Eddie Van Halen's teenage son Wolfgang. In a statement at his personal blog, Anthony wrote in part, "A lot of you have been asking about the upcoming Van Halen tour and my response to it. It's not that I'm not touring with Van Halen because I'm going out with Sammy. I'm going out with Sammy because I was not invited to do the VH tour. Sammy told me that if I was asked to be part of the VH tour and decided to do it, it would be totally cool, and it would not tarnish our friendship in the least!! Well, it's not to be, and life goes on."

As for his replacement, Anthony added, "One last note from myself to all the Van Halen fans out there who will be attending their shows...Wolfgang is a great kid, so don't judge him too harshly. I'm sure he'll do just fine!!"

Anthony and Hagar will start their tour on October 19th in Biloxi, Mississippi, on which they'll play a selection of tunes they recorded with Van Halen.

A furor erupted online last week after photos of Anthony at the band's official web site were either removed or replaced by an image of Wolfgang Van Halen. The photos were restored less than two days later.

Van Halen's first tour with Roth on the mic will begin on September 27th in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He fought oral cancer back in the late nineties yet continues to smoke to this day. (Claiming the cancer was caused by holding the pic in his mouth or some crap like that)
He was in rehab last year I believe so who knows why he's so damn skinny. Maybe Jenny Craig with his ex?

I was concentrating on the Eddie's size. Should've kept the skinny comment out.

I'm just sayin'

Hope Roth just sings and skips the talking.

ya know what is hillariously ironic- after reading all this and seeing the press conference and comments about his gerth, I started seeing Nutrisystem TV ad's with Valerie Bertinelli as the new spokesperson.

Maybe she should get Jr. on board !!! He looks like what would happen if Eddie swallowed Valerie.

And, what does that kid do about school this fall. Does he even go anymore or just bank on his future music career? He is 16 I think so he should be like a Junior in high school.

Man O'man. Boy how times have changed. I remember when VH came to town on their 1984 tour and it was sold out for both shows. I had to go to a scalper to get my tix, which cost a whopping $45 bucks for my seats near the stage. Im thinking today it gets me a spot near the nacho stand.

I'm thinking about checking them out next month when they are in the S.F. Bay Area. If I do, I'll post my review here.

Peace...
