Heads up everyone. Paramount will start showing the movie at most theaters starting May 1st at 8pm. Much like what they did last year with Transformers. So check your theater for tickets (mine i think has them up already)

Interesting 4/5 review that doesn't read like a 4/5 review, possibly a little spoilerish if you haven't seen the trailers or have and can't put two and two together:

Movie Review for Iron Man

I plan to go see this on opening weekend. Probably my first movie at the theater since Transformers. Only other movie I might see at the theater this summer is the Indiana Jones flick.

You did stay until the very end of the credits right? Very cool scene at the very end for all to enjoy

It was bit slower than I expected and the Iron Man action wasn't as much as I would have liked, but when Iron Man was on screen it was brilliant. Awesome CGI, take note Incredible Hulk, thanks to ILM. Overall I liked it and will be there at the sequel.

Yeah, one of the things I really liked, maybe cause it involved a hard substance- metals, iron etc.

Everything looked realistic.

Not sure if it was said here or the Hulk post, but I do agree that he looked better on the big screen.

It wasn't bad by any means..but how the hell does this have 94% on RT . I thought it was a pretty average popcorn flick, if not a little slow moving.

I didn't look at any reviews or knew too much about IRON MAN when we watched it last night. I have to be honest that when I saw Jon Favreau/Directing, I wasn't too excited/thinking it may be mediocre/B movie. I was wrong and extremely surprised.

Robert Downey, Jr. is becoming one of my favorite Actors and he is amazing as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts was also a surprised because I'm thinking miscast. They are perfect and seem to match.

Watching it again if a few hours!

Well, if estimates hold true- 104 million domestic, plus 98 million foreign gives it 200m + already.

Marvel Reports Q1 EPS of $0.58 and Raises 2008 Financial Guidance: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

I hope they dont over-extend themselves and saturate things. For every
X-men, Ironman & Spiderman, there is a Daredevil or Electra (or in my opinion the last Hulk movie and Fantastic Four 1 and 2).

Does Captain America have any powers besides that shield?
Where does Thor come from?

Cap does have enhanced strength though not superhuman like Spiderman.

Thor is the God of Thunder in Norse mythology.

I'm not entirely enthusiastic about these two being brought to the big screen.
They could bomb if not done right.

However, I was shocked to see Ant-man listed in their film projects!!!

Saw it over the weekend, and thought it was great. One of the best stories for a comic book movie, done very well. All the questions that popped up in my head as I watched the movie were answered within a few minutes in a later scene.

The movie did earn $100 million this weekend, exceeding what I was expecting. Most optimistic projections were at $100 million, the modest ones were at $75 million.

Did see the trailer for the Dark Knight during the Iron Man movie, and it looked fantastic, but really dark. Ledger looked and sounded amazing as the Joker. But I think the dark theme will hurt repeat viewing and the kid crowd. No way Dark Knight puts up numbers like Iron Man, even though it looks like a better film.

Downey Jr was perfect as Tony Stark. Did wonder a bit if Paltrow was miscast, but she did a good job and had good onscreen chemistry with Downey Jr. Loved Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane.

Saw this over the weekend, because I was stuck in a town with absolutely nothing else to see. I must say I rather enjoyed it. I could care less about these super-hero movies, but Downey's character and Favreau's directing made this a very fun movie. Paltrow can't act her way out of a bag though. Still I'm glad I watched it.

We did have the trailer for the Hulk play and it pretty much got the sound of crickets when it ended.

Well I went to go see this, second theatrical viewing this year(last being Rambo), I enjoyed it immensley! Downey is also getting to be one of my favorite actors. I can't think of how this could possibly have been better! I can't wait to see it on Blu Ray at home, the theaters bass was severely lacking, plus it'll be much sharper.

Wow, this is all ready available for pre-order on Amazon.com. I had it in my gold box so I ordered it for $26.55 blindly.

Yeah, this movie pretty much rocked. Out of all the comic book movies, this one was the best. I was skeptical when my friend told me that, but it really is. I think Robert Downey Jr has finalized his comeback. Jon Favreau shocked me as a director. Really it was a culmination of great acting, clever script, and a good director. It's hard to find all of those in a comic book movie, much less any movie at all.

I will definitely get this on Blu-ray.

Favs off Iron Man 2?

Quote:
Yipes, things just took a severe turn for the worse for the upcoming IRON MAN sequel.

Earlier today, we told you about Jon Favreau voicing concern on his MySpace blog that Marvel's proposed 2010 release date for the sequel would be a little too rushed to deliver a quality product. In that same post, he also mentioned the following: "It’s been five weeks since the one and only phone call my reps have gotten from Marvel. I know their hands are full with the Hulk and I’m sure they will get into it shortly, as they tell me they intend to. I ran into the Marvel guys at the Hulk premiere and everyone sounded eager to get to work on IM2." Five weeks and just one phone call? Something's not right about that and the folks at the IESB have recently uncovered the reason behind Marvel's reluctance to re-negotiate with Favs. Put simply, they just don't want to.

Given the overwhelming success of IRON MAN, a large part of which hinged on Favs' creative input as director, he understandably expected to be able to re-negotiate a more lucrative deal with no objection from Marvel.
