In a somewhat sad and twisted way this movie is getting a lot of free marketing based on the media's portrayal of Ledger's death. Everybody is going to want to run out and see "the role that drove Heath Ledger to madness". What a crock.

Yeah they won't talk about how this one role could have by itself set up his family for life. The money and residuals will be butting his kids kids through college.

I think his kids kids would have been fine whether Ledger died or not.

Here's an article on promoting this movie given the death of Heath Ledger.

honestly, i dont see what the big deal is- show all the trailers and posters as they intended.

the only way it would be insensitive and in poor taste is if they started selling it as "heath ledgers last film, performance, come see the great heath ledger.etc."

besides that, people know he's in the film, know he finished his filming (at least thats the latest i heard) so they arent showing anything that wasnt already done.

And, this movie practically sells itself. After the success of Batman Begins to both the die hard fans and eventually movie going public (in the beginning i heard alot of 'not another batman movie'- but eventually people saw it and realized how different and not related the series were), and the fact it has in most peoples minds his greatest (or most well known) adversary, there already is a buzz about this film by everyone.

So, aside from disgusting promotion that would take advantage of his death, which I dont expect a studio like WB to do, I wouldnt change a thing.

TDK Trailer 2 Pushed Back?
Posted by: Jett
Thursday, March 6, 2008

10:04 AM TEXAS TIME: It's being reported by several outlets -- in particular DARKHORIZONS.COM -- that the 2nd full trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT has been pushed back. Over the last several weeks, it's been whispered that the trailer would be attached to 10,000 BC (read BOF's review HERE), but that now seems not to be happening. BOF has heard that the recent viral marekting over at IBELIEVEINHARVEYDENT.COM is setting the stage for the trailer's release.
BOF confirms....oh well....gotta wait and see what the Harvey sight has in store for us.

I got my phone call last night from Harvey! I think it's the same audio clip you can listen to from the link above.

I also see on BOF that the new(?) trailer DID ship to some theaters! SilentBob, I wonder why yours didn't get it?

Quote:
2:09 PM TEXAS TIME: Check out a really good article about TDK over at SMH.COM.AU. (Thanks to "Chris M." for the link.)

6:21 AM TEXAS TIME: So, can we scratch yesterday's update about the new TDK trailer being delayed? Since yesterday, I've received MANY reports from BOF'ers who work at movie theaters across the U.S. telling me that the TDK trailer #2 did ship with 10,000 BC. Here are a couple of said reports:

* "I can confirm a new TDK trailer was mixed and sent out to movie theaters -- but whether they actually play it before 10,000 BC (because they're told which trailers to play with what movie, as you probably know) remains to be seen."

* "I work at a major theater in the Louisville, KY...10,000 BC had the new THE DARK KNIGHT trailer attached!"

* I work at a local movie theater -- it is one of the biggest in my area -- and we received a memo last night saying that there was in fact a TDK preview with 10,000 BC. The trailer was received in digital format labled as 'The Dark Knight Trailer 2.' Now I'm not saying that this is in fact the new one but it def seems it could be. I will for sure keep you posted as to whether or not I find out anything tonight. Keep up the good work."

Since 10,000 BC hits theaters today, we'll find out for sure pretty darn soon. I'd also be keeping an eye on IBELIEVINHARVEYDENT.COM as well.

UPDATE: Several BOF'ers who work at theaters emailed in to tell the rest of us that said trailer is the same, Joker-heavy one from this past December, FYI....

Check this rumor out!

Quote:
We don't know much about Aaron Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight, do we? Let's change that.

Forget Tommy Lee Jones's one-note butchering of the character in Batman Forever, Christopher Nolan is experimenting with a fascinatingly schizophrenic depiction of Two-Face that will blend sane and insane line readings from Eckhart. Basically, Nolan shot complementary takes of Eckhart in Two-Face makeup so he could visually represent the duality of Dent in a less cartoony fashion. What Nolan's doing doesn't sound all that far removed from the Gollum/Smeagol model, though the obvious difference here is that Dent isn't motion-capture; he's a fifty-fifty split of the same actor giving two wildly divergent performances in the same shot. And because he has two takes of each scene, Nolan has the luxury of shaping Eckhart's performance in post; it's just a matter of switching the dial between normal Harvey and bug-fuck Two-Face. Again, both will be present in the shot, but only one will dominate the poor bastard's conflicted consciousness at any given moment. The technical audacity required in pulling this off may be the reason Two-Face was held back in the trailer.

This is just one of many creative decisions that's got folks over at the Warner Brothers lot giddy about July 18th. Given the... er, informed speculation I've heard regarding The Joker's more sinister actions in the film, I'll be shocked if this film doesn't encounter some trouble with the ratings board. Still, the dark tone doesn't surprise me nearly as much as Dent's prominent role in the narrative; it sounds like it's his vanity (pre-Two-Face) that brings The Joker's wrath down on Batman.

Everything I'm getting on Nolan's film is coming in piecemeal, but trust me on this: The Dark Knight is going to play rough. There may be more to come, but I may sit on it for fear of spoiling the film any further.

Well the one guy said he received The Dark Knight Trailer 2 with his film. That is the same label that was given to today's Joker Trailer that everyone knows about. They gave the teaser trailer the notion of being Trailer 1. I have received the Joker trailer loose for other films and the film bands are also named trailer 2. I tend to think some may be fibbing of the trailer. You think AICN.com would of posted something by now. Ok not the best pace for news but geeky enough to be posted for us lesser geeks to read. I would love to be proven wrong with a Youtube link though . . . .anyone

Is this apropo nothing or has there been rumours that he's taking over the role? Not that it's anything wrong with you posting this if it's just your own musing, I'm merely curious.

Harvey Dent announces run for Gotham District Attorney

The only man who can save Gotham jumps in! An amazing moment in Gotham history as Harvey Dent offers himself to the people. Harvey gave an amazing speech where he vowed to take Gotham back from the crime bosses, the corrupt cops, and the insider politicians. Harvey fired up the crowd with lines like, "With your help, I will fight with every available means against the alliance of corrupt cops and organized crime that has brought this great city to its knees."

Unprecedented grassroots campaign reveals wave of
support for Harvey Dent

In the last weeks, Gotham City has seen an incredible array of public shows of support. From every neighborhood in the city, people have joined together to demand change – and to convince Harvey Dent to run for District Attorney. Check out some of the best examples here.

Harvey Dent headquarters open for business!

Hundreds of Dent supporters are filling Dent for DA headquarters, working to take Gotham back. If you want to volunteer, just head on over to HQ at 54 1st Street in Granton! You’ll be glad you came. There’s free donuts and coffee, and you can meet other Gothamites who want to change the future of this city!
Harvey is running for DA! Like we didn't know that already.

My apologies...I was reflecting on the initial rumors as to who was going to play the Joker...I believe Jude Law was one name that was tossed around. Now I can see why. No there are no rumors as to the future - just simply musing about the past. Have you seen Sleuth?

You would be correct
