Saliva to pitch songs for TDK?
Author: Jett
Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 2:13 PM OK, y'all remember that rumor that got loose back in 2005 that several rock bands, Metallica for example, had songs on a BATMAN BEGINS soundtrack? Of course, that was total BS, but BOF'er "Jeff in Seattle" tells us that the band Saliva mentioned on radio station KISW 99.9 FM on a December 1st appearance that they were going to pitch some songs "...for the new BATMAN movie." The station puts their interviews up on their website, but had yet to post Saliva's as of this writing. Take that for what you will...

Songs in The Dark Knight or any Nolan directed Batman flick will never happen i would think with James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer helming the score once again. Plus this time Batman will finally get his THEME as he never got it in the last one. So screw the band and lets hear another awesome score

Costume update for Batman & Joker

Taken from B.O.F.;

Quote:
Some Costume Info
Author: Jett
Tuesday, December 12, 2006 - 10:07 AM, 6:27 PM Not too long ago, BOF was told that the Bat-suit for TDK would be “sleeker” than its predecessor and show how Bruce would make advancements to his gear. Well, an insider is back to offer a bit more insight into The Batman’s new threads.

Our guy tells us to look for a suit that’s “athletic” and be more “fabricky” -- if I can use that as a description. There will still be an element of the sculpted “body armor” on the suit, so don’t expect something totally rubber-free.

My take is that the suit is not going to look drasticly different from the one seen in BATMAN BEGINS. But one would expect Bruce Wayne to tweek and improve the suit, so we'll see that in TDK. Now, as far as The Joker is concerned…

We know that Heath Ledger's portrayal will be nothing like we've seen before on screen -- i.e Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson. Consequently, don't expect TDK's Joker to be "costumed" as we've seen in the past either. While he will still clearly look like and be The Joker, expect him to be "less cartoony," if you will. Our source told BOF, "[Since The Joker is] much more dark, sinister, and threatening [in TDK], his costume is very much going to reflect that." He added, "It's not going to be a suit that is tailored for him, but more something he acquired. I mean, what tailor would actually make a suit for The Joker?"

Last week, several websites, namely my friends over at MOVIEHOLE.NET, mentioned that Rachel McAdams has been rumored for a part in TDK. McAdams was also said to be up for the role of "Pepper Potts" in IRON MAN. Well, according to McAdams fansite RACHELONLINE.NET, McAdams' publicist has shot down the IRON MAN rumor. What does this have to do with TDK? Probably nothing, but since 2007 is fast approaching, we'll find out soon enough...

Just speculating here, but IF McAdams does snag a role in TDK, what part will it be? What does this mean for the Rachel Dawes character and Katie Holmes returning?

I've yet to really love a Bat suit, so I hope the new suit works. I'd also love to see McAdams in the film.

Ugh. Saliva sucks so bad. They are making "songs" for no good reason if you are making them for this film.

Chances are it'll be something in the end credits to justify a "Music From and Inspired By" album.

Eckhart for Dent? Phillippe Talks Two-Face
Author: Jett
Friday, February 2, 2007 - 5:00 AM, 5:47 PM: Back in July, BOF reported that Ryan Phillippe was in the Harvey Dent/Two Face mix. Here's what he had to say recently about the role via IGN:

"'I think they may have talked at different times to my representation, but no decision has been made. It would be fun.' When asked if he was shutting the door on that possibility, he replied 'no.'"

Looks like Ryan would love to land the part, but...

My friends over at LATINO REVIEW are reporting that 38 year old Aaron Eckhart may have recently emerged as the front-runner to play Harvey Dent in THE DARK KNIGHT. They also mention another candidate for the recast Rachel Dawes: Maggie Gyllenhaal.

After seeing his great work in Thank You for Smoking i kind of like the rumor of Aaron Eckhart as Two Face. Also i don't mind the thought of Maggie Gyllenhaal taking over the Rachel Dawes part. I still hold out some hope for McAdams playing Harley Quinn in some form the new movie (i just love the character from the Animated series and hope they use her in the 2nd movie. Maybe to help free Mr. J in the end of the film to create Two face or something) Well at least we know THIS MOVIE IS STILL being worked on by Nolan

Eckhart Joining The Dark Knight!
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
February 15, 2007

Aaron Eckhart is in final talks to play Harvey Dent/Two Face in The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. Pictures' sequel to Batman Begins, says The Hollywood Reporter.

In Batman lore, Dent is the district attorney of Gotham City and an ally of Batman. After half his face is disfigured by acid, Dent becomes the insane crime boss known as Two Face. He chooses to do good or evil by flipping a coin. Tommy Lee Jones played the character in 1995's Batman Forever.

"Knight" sees Christopher Nolan back in the director's chair with Christian Bale reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman are also returning. Heath Ledger will play The Joker.

The script was written by Nolan's brother, Jonathan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David Goyer. Producing are Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan.

I think both this and the news on the Dawes character from the post above are well fit.

I wish they would move past that character also. Just introduce a new love interest.

Or better yet, skip the love interest entirely. Spider-Man works with romance, Batman should be an obsessed loner. Plus, I always dislike it when a character gets recast in a sequel (even though Gyllenhaal is a better actress than Holmes, it'll still be distracting). Just write out Rachel and bring in Harvey Dent as her DA replacement. It writes itself, people!

Na na na guys

show WHY he is a loner. His parents got shot... why not have the Joker take this girl out?

Slight case of death would certainly take the character out of the story..... with a bang :')

For those like me that have never really been happy with the suit(s), it looks like we may finally have a good one! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and what you think they mean by "major plotpoint as to the how and why" mentioned below.

Quote:
New Bat-Suit, MG is RD, & Will "The Scarecrow" Return?
Author: Jett
Friday, March 9, 2007 - 6:00 AM CENTRAL TIME: From AICN:

Both Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan have seen a new Batsuit & there's been a fitting. I told this person how I didn't particularly dig the suit in Batman Begins and said it was too bulky. To this he/she replied, "Well then you'll love the new one." He/she also stated that Bats changes his suit halfway through the film - and its a major plotpoint as to the how and why this happens.

Seems to support the costume news BOF REPORTED LAST AUGUST...

VARIETY is confirming what we all expected: Maggie Gyllenhaal will be the "New Rachel" in THE DARK KNIGHT. Good move, IMO -- as long as no one confuses this with the "New Darrin" controversy that has plagued BEWITCHED fans since 1969.

This is good casting! Heck of an actress and much better than....Well, I'll just let that one go. Thanks to ALL the BOF'ers that sent in the link -- and kudos to my friends at LATINO REVIEW for breaking the story weeks ago...

From THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER:

Maggie Gyllenhaal is in final negotiations to join the all-star cast of "The Dark Knight," Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures' sequel to "Batman Begins."

Gyllenhaal is being tapped to play D.A. Rachel Dawes, the love interest to Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale). In the first movie, Dawes was played Katie Holmes, who, like Gyllenhaal, is repped by CAA. But reps for Holmes said she was unable to reprise her role because of scheduling conflicts.

"Knight" finds Christopher Nolan back in the director's chair, joining "Batman Begins' " Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman. Heath Ledger is set as the Joker, while Aaron Eckhart will play D.A. Harvey Dent, also known as the villainous Two-Face.

"I'm extremely excited to work with an actress of Maggie's caliber, and she's a great addition to the cast as we continue our story," Nolan said.

Still no big press release from the studio -- although I keep asking them -- but it looks like Mr. Freeman is returning as expected...

Will we see Dr. Jonathan Crane in Gotham in TDK? Here's a bit of what Cillian Murphy had to say about returning as The Scarecrow in TDK:

"I'm not at liberty and it's not my place to say. I'd love to work with Chris again. I enjoyed tremendously working on that film [BATMAN BEGINS], and we'll see. I think casting Heath Ledger as the Joker is fantastic casting. He'll make an amazing movie."

Its weird. Driving home from Palm Springs on Tuesday I saw a Murcielago with a batman signal logo on the back as well as on the side panels between the front fender and door.

Probably not that weird considering murciélago is "bat" in spanish. Kind of fitting actually for where they decided to place this product.
