"Bad Blood" is absolutely awesome. Luke Wilson is great, and Mulder and Scully's impressions of each other are totally hilarious.

in the Revelations set there are supposed to be introductions to each episode telling why it's important to the movie. I'm not sure if this is marketing to get you to buy something else or actually useful info or a mix of the two.

Has the pricing for the Revelations set been announced or speculated on?

The episodes will be released in a 2 disc box set called X-Files : Revelations on July 8 and will include an movie ticket to see I Want To Believe, or at least have a coupon in it for a few dollars off a ticket.

Episode in the set include:

(Season 1)
Pilot

(Season2)
The Host (Flukeman)

(season 3)
Clyde Bruckmans Final Repose

(Season 4)
Memento Mori

(Season 5)
The Post-Modern Prometheus
Bad Blood

(Season6)
Milagro

based on what I've read about the movie, what was in the latest trailer, the feel of all these episodes and the fact that they are almost all non-mythology episodes, if I was playing catch-up, I would add War of the Coprophages, Jose Chung's From Outer Space, and Leonard Betts from season 3, plus Paper Hearts and Small Potatoes from season 4.

All of these are some of the best of the series and the Leonard Betts episode is the first to touch on Scully's cancer, which is followed up in Chris Carter's season 4 pick : Memento Mori.
Interesting list. The Pilot seems a little out of place to me. Is it simply there to introduce the characters?

As long as we are adding episodes like Small Potatoes and Jose Chung, I think it appropriate to include Squeeze and Tooms. Two of the best in this line of episodes.

I watched Momenti Mori (and Zero Sum) again last night. Wondering why it is on the list. It is not a "psychic" episode or "monster of the week" episode. If anything it is a mythology episode.

The only other thought I could come up with is that it is a relationship episode and show Mulder and Scully together in a great way. Mulder fights for her, refuses to believe she can't be cured, and at the end kisses her (although the kiss on the lips was removed in editing).

**Whoops... Edit... the episode Beyond the Sea from season 1 is included in the box set and I did not include it when I put up my original post. Dont know how I could have missed it. Its one of the series greats and has one of my favorite, totally underrated actors in it - Brad Dourif**

Here's what I think the inclusion of each episode means:

Pilot- duh, there are these 2 FBI agents that meet and start to investigate strange cases. going into a movie, its kind of a good idea to know where it all started.

Beyond The Sea- these characters have very complex relationships with their families and with each other, not just with their FBI jobs, plus this episode lets you know that there are psychics in the XFiles universe

The Host (Flukeman)- theres squishy mutants in the XFiles universe and sometimes things get gross

Clyde Bruckmans Final Repose- once again there are psychics, and sometimes they are tortured souls. also this one shows that The X-Files was not always a totally serious show and could have comedy in serious situations

Memento Mori- Scully has/had cancer and it is not something that was a 1 season plot line and then forgotten. it was a big deal to all of the characters of the show and this shows part of the deep relationship between Mulder and Scully.

The Post-Modern Prometheus- This was the black and white, 1950's monster movie/Cher episode. Your guess is as good as mine. This one is just nuts

Bad Blood- Vampires are either fat pizza delivery guys or hot sheriffs. Also shows the work dynamic between Mulder and Scully

Milagro- This was a weird but good one from a later season. Why it is the final pick on Carter's list, I don't know. I guess we'll have to see the movie to see how it ties in. Maybe it shows that some psychics have different abilities and some evils can be willed in and out of existence, or it could be that it shows the analytical, always-thinking mind of Scully

wow... $20 at DVDempire.com
$15 thru Amazon

But why have 8 select episodes for $15 when you can have all 9 seasons for $254.99 ?

I'm pretty sure those are more "best of the show" and "tone of the show" rather than important to understanding the movie. It has been said over and over the movie is pretty much made for people who have never even seen the show.

Post Modern... is Carter's favorite episode, which I'm sure is why it's included.

Duh. Of course I should've checked before just posting my question like a moron. Sorry. It annoys me when others can't be bothered to do a quick Google or Amazon search, so I should know better.

Only a month to go, fellow X-Philes! Here's the first TV spot:

On a side note, I was in class last night and one of the girls in the front row had her laptop out and her background was the teaser poster. Thought I would share that. X-Filers still abound.

A lot of those reviews seem to bash the film just for existing... "why did we need this?'... ummm, because many fans want more X-Files? Why make any movie? Douchebags.

That said, I have low expectations. As much as this may be a sin to admit, the Carter-written stuff in X-Files was always iffy at best. That show was amazing because of Duchovny and Anderson, and writers like Wong, Gilligan and Morgan.

I want to believe.....that it's good. But I saw it at a midnight screening last night. I was pretty dissapointed. It's okay for a CSI episode I guess. Go into this one with low low expectations and then if you just enjoy seeing Mulder and Scully on the big screen maybe you'll be into it. I went into it with low expectations and still...eh.

side note: Amazon has seasons of The X-Files on sale for 60% off.

I'm hoping Ebert sees something other critics don't as he's giving it 3 1/2 stars.

Ever since he came back after his illness to print reviews, he's given 3 1/2 or 4 stars to EVERYTHING.

And the fact that a big part of this one deals with someone with a major illness makes me wonder if that affected his review.

That Ebert review gives me great hope... it speaks to a lot of what I like in movies; moral questions, a lack of CGI and sense of reality, levels of evil...

He makes it sound damn good.

He gave Step Brothers , Mama Mia & Journey to the Center of the Earth . I really haven't noticed any change in his film criticism since his illness.

But can you name a single week in the past year's worth of Ebert reviews where he didn't award at least one or rating? The's guy's gotten to be a soft touch lately.

The best Chris Carter could come up with was a remake of The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant?
