This was released in the UK yesterday and the majority of the comments on some other forums I visit have been positive saying there's plenty of action and it moves along nicely, just a bit slow in places. Also described as "a cross between the comic and the 70's series."

Apparently there's a nice teaser at the end, I assume they're referring to the....

Spoiler (Highlight or Triple Click to Read):
Tony Stark cameo.

And this happens before the credits and not after, so everyone gets to see it and not just the few that know/care about these after the credits scenes.

You know, if a future version of myself had traveled back in time to the beginning of the summer and told me that I’d like Hulk more than Indiana Jones--I probably would have smacked myself.

But if a future self of you travelled back in time, your present self wouldn't have the knowledge to smack thyself. Something like that.

Unless you are warped, in time that is.

Someone needs to find that thread about Indy/Hulk/Bats and which one will top the others thread. I suck at searching.

Surprised there isnt more commentary after the weekend.

Anyway, I saw this movie and loved it. So much fun and action and not Ang Lee. Perfect pacing, and the cameo was neat.

Question: SPOILER BELOW MAYBE

Is the Dr. in NY that was Mr.Blue somebody important in the Hulk comic universe? He got infected with Abominations blood and you saw his brain kinda lurching out like he was deforming.

Saw it last night.

Edward Norton pulled it off and I really enjoyed it/ more than I thought I would. Louis Leterrier (Director, The Transporter/2) did a great job, I was surprised and love that he gave us that scene/I hate when all we get are Dark/Night scenes when CGI is used. I can't wait to hear it on dts Master Audio 7.1 when Universal releases this on Blu-ray High-Def!

As for the rest of the cast, I think they were alright. I don't know too much/follow Marvel/DC Comics but I'm loving them/especially these remakes. Iron Man still remains my Top Film of 2008. This ranks $#5.

I liked this film alot, almost as much as Iron Man. There were some slow/weak moments, but all in all, ALOT better than Ang Lee's film. I liked Ed Norton as Banner/Hulk as well. I at first, when I heard about his casting, I was kinda skeptic, like I was with Downey Jr. as Stark/Iron Man, but after seeing these two films, it would be kinda hard seeing anyone else in those roles, especially Downey Jr.

I'm curious though as to what Leterrier's/ Norton's version of this film would be like though. There was a longer, elaborate version of the film, aka Batman Begins, so I've read, but I think either Marvel and/or Universal made them recut it.

Also, was there suppose to be some kind of homage/cameo/reference to Bill Bixby in this? I thought I read/heard something about that, but didn't see it, unless I wasn't really looking hard enough.

I think people might have been confused with the cameo by Lou Ferrigno instead.

Haven't seen it yet but I believe Bixby appears on a TV in the background or something
At least that's what I heard...

Here's an article pulling together all the bits about the Norton and Marvel differences:

The Incredible Hulk: The Truth About Edward Norton vs. Marvel | /Film

I've read bits of that article across various other sites and it is a shame. It would be nice to get a Norton cut, instead of 70 minutes of deleted scenes, and a theatrical cut on DVD/Blu-ray so we have the best of both worlds, although it sounds like most if not all the Hulk bits are in the theatrical version, which I guess is the point. It's annoying though when you have a two hour film and it still feels disjointed because of certain cuts.

I still haven't been able to see this yet, but I am going to watch this at the cinema.

Well, the person who wrote the article may have been confused, but in it it specifically stated that both Lou ferrigno and Bill Bixby make an appearance in the film. However, they did say it was an "appearance of sorts", which would make sense as he is dead for like 15 years now.

So, the TV thing would make sense.

I havent seen it yet, but it appears it is a failure at the box office. I know it was number one, but kind of a disappointing number one in terms of numbers. I doubt will even beat the Ang Lee version. This may have impact on future Marvel products.

Yea, Bill Bixby was in there. On a TV that Norton was flipping through the channels. It was from that show, that escapes me, where he was a single father. I remember the theme song though, something about "best friends".

I liked it much more than I thought I would. I think it was better than Ang Lee's. But follow me on this. Ang Lee made Hulk, then Brokeback Mountain. Now can you imagine The Hulk as gay. "Don't make me horny, you wouldn't like me when I'm horny."

Hey.........wait a second.........this isn't Test and Off Topic.

Stepping away quietly.

Just saw this today, I'll give it a thumbs up. Definitely more enjoyable overall than the 1st one.

Bixby's appearance is very early on a TV Norton's watching. However it's in a very old show so you may not recognize him.

I almost missed him and I was looking, he looks very young in the shot.

I believe the show was called "The Courtship of Eddie's Father".

It’ll probably make its money on DVD. I doubt anyone at Marvel expected this to bring in Spider-Man numbers.

Agreed, but it did make $55+ million on opening weekend, which really is a good opening, considering that they basically rebooted the Hulk franchise and that Ang Lee's version left a sour taste in alot of fan's mouths. I think that's pretty good, under the circumstances. It might have been a different story if Lee's version never existed.

An article I read today said 2003 version is out pacing this one interms of daily numbers and this new one will do no better overall. I am really depressed as I really wanted a successful hulk movie. It must be an unpopular character

Well, the film is successful in that it's watchable. So, that's something.

It’s already made over $100m worldwide and I do think the film will clean up on DVD, so we'll probably see sequels.

It's a misnomer to call the last Hulk movie unsuccessful. It made $132 million at a budget of $137. When you add all the other revenue streams a movie have it was most definitely successful in terms of making money.

Where it failed was in not living up the expectations. And this is not a problem the new Hulk movie has, as the pundits were predicting (thanks in large part due to the perceived underperformance of the original) pretty much exactly what ended up happening. Gitesh Pandya predicted a $53 mil opening and it had a $55 mil opening.

So while the current movie may have a similar arc in terms of its box office as the old one, it will have a much better perception in terms of its success.

The movie sucked, doesn't matter if it made money.

As for this new one, aside from some awkward acting from Tyler and Norton, it was great.
