Is this movie fiction or based in some historical fact?

I saw the trailer and like most of his films it looks spectacular with special effects and all, but I just couldnt place where all the stuff fit in- mammoths building pyramids, gods, fighting an army of viking look-a-likes?

And, I could help but laugh at the fact that the cavemen looked like they all had laser whitening or used the Crest Strips. Don't they eat bark?

I saw Quest for Fire and Encino Man and there teeth were a little more brown and decayed.

Help anyone on the plot part?
