Pretty damn awesome. The Nick Fury stuff at the end was very cool too.

Seeing it again next Thursday!

The initial reviews I've read have been very very positive. Makes me more excited to see this in the theaters.

I'm seeing it tonight. A good way to kick off the summer season which by the looks of it may be pretty lackluster minus Batman and Indiana Jones.

The "I am Iron man" line was almost as good as Craig's "Bond, James Bond."

And, as awesome as the Nick Fury epilogue is, I really hope they take it slow and don’t land us in another Justice League debacle.

Ok, so from the comics, what is S.H.I.E.L.D. and which superheroes make it up?

I know Stark was supposed to make a cameo in Hulk, so who makes up the avengers?

And, I did not get a Dark Night trailer, just Hulk and Indiana Jones.

Anway- awesome movie. Want to see it again.

You have no idea how big those questions are.

There have been many different heroes in the Avengers over the years, and many different divisions. As for S.H.I.E.L.D., well, they're a little more complex. In short, they're a mysterious extra-government organization that "watches over us." S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't always include superheroes per se, but a few have been "employed" within the ranks. Really, instead of me writing a history, you should spend some time reading:

Avengers - Marvel Universe: The definitive online source for Marvel super hero bios. (just look at the former members section. See what I mean? )

Also see S.H.I.E.L.D - Marvel Universe.

Needless to say, I was thrilled that the film included both.

Crap Nick Fury stuff at the end? I am assuming that is post credits? I never stay for those and don't find out until it is too late that they are there.

Anyway, I really quite enjoyed the movie. I was never really big into Iron Man. But nice to see a superhero that doesn't hide their super identity. Solid A and great kick off to the summer.

I usually don't stick around either, but since I read beforehand about something after the credits, I did stick around. Was kinda cool, but certainly didn't expect Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. But it sure does beat David Hasselhoff in that TV movie.

I thought it was the best MARVEL origin movie yet. Faithful to a T to the comic (except of course for replacing Vietnam w/ Afgahnistan)--I had a blast from the word go. Pissed I didn't get to see the end scene after the credits but I saw it early on Friday before I heard any buzz about it

But as far as the rest of the flick---friggin' loved it! I think that it is definitely going to surpass all of the box office expectations (not just the opening weekend's) and is going to have some solid staying power at the B.O. Hopefully I will have BLU-RAY by the time it comes out on DVD .

I caught the end bit on youtube. Now that I've seen it, I am actually hoping they go with an Avengers style sequel/continuation rather than Iron Man 2.

How about both?

Feature Film Projects Being Developed by Marvel - partial list
Iron Man (Marvel) Released May 2, 2008
The Incredible Hulk (Marvel) Scheduled for June 13, 2008 release
Iron Man 2 (Marvel) Scheduled for April 30, 2010 release
Thor (Marvel) Scheduled for June 4, 2010 release
The First Avenger: Captain America working title (Marvel) Scheduled for May 6, 2011 release
The Avengers (Marvel) Scheduled for July 2011 release
Ant-Man (Marvel) Writer/director engaged

Source (and some more announcements)

Even though this list excites me a lot, the wait doesn't...

As for the movie, I liked it quite a bit. Trying to decide if I should see it again or not, since there is pretty much a movie coming each week for the rest of the summer that I want to see. More action as Iron Man would have been sweet, but I guess they're saving that for the next one. As an origin movie, it did everything it needed to. I was surprised (pleasantly) about Tony revealing himself as Iron Man already, hopefully they do something interesting with that in the next one.

Just saw it and loved it!

The only critique: There needed to be longer fight sequences.

IMHO Gwenyth hasn't looked that hot in a LOOOOOONG time! I'll take a Pepper Pots to go please!

Didn't get the Dark Knight trailer Or the Hulk.

Got Indiana Jones which was good and the Spirit which was . Should have just called it Sin City - Just not good, and with really bad wire work,.... and horrible dialog.

Iron Man however .... ROCKED!

I liked how they took there time with the development. The movie never once dragged. Robert Downey Jr. was absolutely perfect. Just his line delivery was enough to keep the movie going. Oh yeah and for the first time ever Gweneth looked ok.

Just got back from seeing it! Really enjoyed it a lot

Can't complain about him outing himself as I'm quite sure he's outed in the comics these days anyway.

I'd love an Avengers movie as they were the main comic I followed when I was younger. Still have em too.

I'm just worried Cap will be too tough to pull off right.

As for trailers. I got Indy, Dark Knight and Hulk plus a couple others

I think the only other film this summer to compete for my favorite will be Indiana Jones. Iron Man was from start to finish a great ride.

I am an avid reader of DC comics and only dabble with Marvel from time to time but damn can Marvel make a great film. I've said it before and seeing the film reiterated my belief that Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. This is the role I think he'll most be remembered for and rightly so.

Yeah well thats only because ADD teenagers wouldn't ever see Chaplin, Less than Zero, or any of his other films. This is after all a more mass market film than his others.

Like Harrison Ford. Yeah he's Indiana Jones and Han Solo but his Witness, Regarding Henry, and Mosquito Coast is what shows his real acting abilities. Unfortunately good actors are mostly remembered for what most people have seen.

but aren't those roles some of their best? Don't get me wrong I love all of Harrison Ford's films but I love him best in Indiana Jones, its not just him but the film in general.

I finally made it out to see Iron Man last night and really enjoyed it. I saw it in a theatre that was using digital projection and boy was it nice. I also got to see the new Hulk, Indy, and Dark Knight trailers so that was nice too.

I didn't notice the shield from the scene that Pirate's link relates to, but of course I didn't see that post until this morning.....if I end up going back and seeing it again (as now that I have actually made it out to the theatre this year hopefully I will be going back again soon) I will definitely watch out for it.

I really liked it when Rhodey looked at the mk ii suit and said "next time" - that was one of the nice fan-centred moments for me.
