reboot of Robocop with Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky Rebooting 'Robocop' - 'Pi' director and writer David Self are bring 'Robocop' to MGM for 2010 - Zap2it

It's scary to think that Aronofsky was supposed to direct the Batman films before Christopher Nolan took over.

I do like all of Aronofsky's stuff, so it might be promising.

Robocop 2 was awesome, if for no other reason than the 10 year old kid who killed people, extorted people, and was generally a total badass.

Robocop is one of the few films that I believe has nothing wrong with it and is golden from start to finish

Why on a remake and why on Aronofsky choosing this?

This makes no sense what so ever. If you ask any director, producer, actor in hollywood, they would say that Robocop is close to perfection as one can get. And yet they still think it needs to be remade.

Idiots.

Technically, this is supposed to be taking place in the same timeline as the original Robocop films, so it's really a sequel. It'd be nice if they could get Peter Weller back in the suit.

Robocop is one of my favourite films, and while i like Aronofsky, i just don't see the need for this.
The original is very much a product of it's time, and modernising it just wouldn't work IMO. Even if they go for a direct sequel route, i just think it's time has passed.

Moogs, you said what I've been thinking for years now. That has become the hollywood standard now - constantly remaking everything, even if the originals were good or near to perfection. That, and turning every video game and tv show into a film adaptation. There were rumors awhile back that they were going to remake Predator as well.

Just like Moogs said, if Hollywood is going to remake a film, at least stick to the poor films that at least have a chance to be improved upon. Remaking films that don't need to be remade is just a waste of everyone's time.

Darren Aronofsky could be a very cool choice for directing. The thing that me even more excited is what will Clint Mansell do music wise. You know he is the guy who will be composing the music for the film. Its like Burton=Elfman, Spielberg=Williams and now Aronofsky=Mansell

This possibility just got me REALLY excited!

I think MGM is looking for some sort of franchise to build around like other studios have done recently around superhero characters, and Robocop is one of the few action characters that they still own the rights to.
