What would you like to see made into a movie?
With the trend of SciFi/Fantasy on the rise, I was wondering if anyone had a personal preferance, or an idea for what they think would be a good movie? I can think of a couple myself that I would like to see made.
1) On A Pale Horse Pierce Anthony cool little take on the supernatural 2) Star Blazers Live Action 3) Long Dark Teatime of the Soul Douglas Addams Any others, I would love to hear some ideas. j ------------------ Fast MOPARS, faster computers, And high performance home theater! Hmmm. Let's see...
-Guardians of the Flame -The Belgeriad -The Rift War Saga -Theives' World -Illuminatus & Schroedinger's Cat -Dragon...(et al.)_of Pern -DragonLance Chronicles -Just about anything by Howard Philips Lovecraft-That is, if it's actually well done, not more of those awful "B" movies like "The Unnamable". "Call of Cthulhu" could be made for less than $50 million and easily be a summer's biggest grossing action/horror picture. For those not familiar with H.P. Lovecraft, he was the best at horror in the time after Edgar Allen Poe and before Stephen King. IMO of course ![]() Sigh. Lots of really wonderful stories waiting for life on the big screen. Well, at least Lord of the Rings made it ![]() AB -------- "You can have my books when you pull them from my cold, dead fingers." |

indiephantom,
come on, there are already enough dead boring movies out there... I'd rather watch some FBI warnings ![]() ...but seriously, what would I like to see made into a movie? - The Dark Tower Saga, by Stephen King... but chances are they would screw it up like The Stand [shudder] - The NYC Phone book OK, I'll admit it... I'm in that silly mood again ![]() ------------------ Unca Dom, DDS-088 dvdfile.com administrator pfleghaar@dvdfile.com |

Well, I'd like to see all the Incarnations of Immortality novels by Piers Anthony made into movies, but that's just me.
However, I'd rather have Roger Zelazny's Amber series made into movies. This series just screams to be seen on the big screen. ------------------ Taxi DVDFile Moderator |

WOW Taxi!
I thought I was the only one who read those books. It's nice to see someone other than me enjoyed the Incarnations set ![]() On a side note, how would one go about getting something like that to the people who make the decisions? j ------------------ Fast MOPARS, faster computers, And high performance home theater! Well, it'd be tough to make the Thomas Covenant books into movies. They'd have to cut out so much detail.... But it'd be interesting to see how they'd do it. (Personally, I didn't like the second trilogy that much, but the first three books were amazing.)
I have no idea how or who ideas for movies get presented to those "in power." I suppose you'd have to come up with a good screenplay and pitch it to a bunch of studio execs and hope somebody gives you the money to make it. I'm glad somebody did that for The Fellowship of the Ring trilogy. Those movies are going to be big, I think. It looks very promising. ------------------ Taxi DVDFile Moderator |

Ditto on good HP Lovecraft movies. I would love to see The Shadow Over Innsmouth or The Dunwich Horror.
The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury (I know a partial attempt was made at this) Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy. Unfortunately in this post-Cold War era I don't see any WWIII US v. Russia movies getting made. Walter Johnson: A Life or any other biographical movie about Walter Johnson. They've made Cobb and Ruth, it's about time they covered the game's greatest pitcher. Oops, I just realized this topic referred to sci-fi movies. Maybe they could give Walter Johnson a robotic side-kick like the owl in CLASH OF THE TITANS ![]() [This message has been edited by Will Munney (edited 04-12-2000).] |

TAXI YOU DA'MAN!
I'm DYING to see the Incarnations of Immortality made into movies. Those are my all time favorite books and I think they could potentially be awsome movies/mini-series. ------------------ -Damian |

I was thinking about the first Thomas Covenant series. It would be very difficult to say the least but not impossible(just not very likely to ever happen).
Also Clarks Childhood's End would be fantastic to see. Philip Jose' Farmer's The Lovers ------------------ -Dougpirana " It's not my damn planet, MONKEY BOY!" |

You all know that they're already making Ender's Game into a movie, right?
That one could be reeeeely cool, too. (At one time Jake Lloyd was set to star as Ender, but I don't know if that was ever finalized.)------------------ Taxi DVDFile Moderator |

Theres a book called, To the Vanishing Point by Alan Dean Foster that I'd love to see made into a book. Its about the threads of time unraveling. Also a JLA movie would be nice...meaning Justice Leage of America. A great comic book. One more,The Return, which is a Star Trek Book and brings back...Kirk.

I can see it now, "The Sex Life of Indiephantom".
New York Times Review (insert snobby English voice0: It started well enough, the characters were well developed for the first 20 minutes. But, it goes downhill from there. Now you have to remember that I was at the Ziegfeld in New York, a traditional one screen theater with a 70 foot tall screen. Yet, even with my 20/15 vision, BIG screen, 15th row seats, and hard squinting, the audience and I BARELY saw Indiephantom Junior ...even during the closeup. Needless to say, women started to leave in droves at that point. One woman, as she passed my aisle seat, whispered "damn, even my Chinese boyfriend has a bigger schlong than that" ![]() Dave Bean |

Also I would like to see a movie adaptation of a Video game that scared me a lot more than any "scarey" movie did last year.
Silent Hill. (or scary even) ------------------ -Dougpirana " It's not my damn planet, MONKEY BOY!" [This message has been edited by dougpirana (edited 04-17-2000).] |
