Hostage: Which version?

I haven't seen this film before and prefer NTSC DVDs, but was wondering if it's worth getting one of the DTS versions with the 1.85:1 aspect ratio or the Thai release which is in Dolby Digital and 2.35:1?

Deltamac (HK) release
This has more special features than the Korean EnterOne release, but I'm not sure if it's Open Matte.

Thai release
Apart from packaging and possibly menus, this sounds similar to the US NTSC release.

What is the difference between the aspect ratios, is some of the image lost with the 1.85:1 ratio?

Would it be better to lose the DTS and take the original aspect ratio?

This article suggests either ratio is good (about a third down the page):

Please note that these do not feature in the comparison:

Well i don't buy other region dvd's but the Dolby Digital track should be more then enough to meet your needs. Getting great reviews in the Region 1 area (avg 8-9) The film looked great in the 2.35:1 ratio in theaters but i don't know how this Flat 1.85:1 ratio would look on dvd. I actually rather enjoyed the film and should be a nice blind buy for you.

So i would say stick with the Dolby and OAR dvd

I've heard it's quite good and it doesn't look like a bad single disc DVD, although it will probably get the double dip treatment, and these regions are around £7-8 UK so not expensive.

I think I'll go for the Thai one as it's the cheapest, R3 NTSC and OAR.
