Ordering from Amazon.fr?

Has anyone ordered from Amazon's French site? There are a few discs that I want, but I'm not even sure if they'll ship to the US. Are there other sites that sell French DVDs?

Thanks

As long as your not buying from a private seller, they will ship them to you. I've ordered from their co.uk and .de stores with success, no reason to think .fr would be any different.

Is there a way to translate the site into English?

Heh, thats the fun part. Be familiar with the US version of the site, and the check out process, know what the yellow buttons say, all the others are just like it, but with different languages. Then, do the check out on the .fr site, and translate all the test you can, by entering it here. http://babelfish.altavista.com/ It's tedious, but it works.

I've ordered from Amazon.fr, uk, jp and de all with no problems. The stuff usually arrives in a week too. You can always use google's auto translator for the site. But all the Amazon's work the same, so if you're used to ordering with amazon.com in the US, it's pretty easy to figure out what buttons to push and info to give to order from the other ones.

Some of the private sellers will ship to the U.S. as well, so don't rule them out. As I recall, you will be stopped and warned during the ordering process if the seller cannot or will not ship to your address on file.

If the seller says international shipping they will ship to the US, if shipping isn't specified they won't. When they won't the system won't let you complete the transaction.

For those of you who have ordered several DVDs from amazon.fr, what percentage would you say has English subtitles? There are a few films I want to get, but most state the language as French and do not list any subtitles.

Thanks.

There's really no set way to know what percentage have them or not, that's a huge sample to pick from. All the French dvds I have are of American movies and thus the soundtrack is in English and subtitles aren't needed. Best thing do to is both look at the specs on Amazon.fr and also check dvdbeaver for info on the discs.
BTW, I just bought Elephant Man on hd-dvd from Amazon.fr and it got here in three days. But I did pay for the fastest shipping option.

You could check here . They usually say whether the DVD has subtitles or not.
