Do you leave or sit through end credits?
Do you leave or sit through end credits?
and Do you clap if you liked it? --- It might seem kind of stupid I like to stay during the end credits. I do it out of a long running custom and out of respect for all the people that helped make the movie. I also like to see the thanks and songs used. If its a comedy, its a rule of thumb to stay because 7 out of 10 times there will be one last little bit. But a lot of people leave right away, sometimes its distracting because I can hear people zipping up their jackets and putting away crap, ladies putting on lipstick and closing their little clam shells- reminds of high school. As soon as a black screen appears half the audience is in isles, and then, like in the case of Ocean's 11 and Panic Room, theres still more film everyone turns back around and what have you. I hate that. I've also noticed no one claps anymore. What happened to enthusiastic appreciation of a good film? I try and start a slow clap but usually one person joins in and then we both look stupid and stop.

As far as the credits go, it depeds on the movie. and who I'm with etc.
With clapping, well I usually don't unless the movie is incredible but I'll clap a little during a bad ass scene like when (***mild spoiler***)Nomak slams Blade through the pillar during the fight at the end of the movie.

Yeah, I agree with Poppa Giorgio, those who get up right away like they're gona die tommorow and are always in a hurry annoy me. Even if they will die, sit and enjoy the film till the end.
I often listen to the soundtrack or score and check out the tracks featured in the film (because we all know you can't go by the "official" soundtrack CD which most often contains crap that is not even in the movie but DOESN'T have the songs or compositions that WERE in it, so called "From and INSPIRED BY" useless compilations. Sometimes there are little scenes at the end which I love, plus there is no more than 2 people at that time. Oh and regarding clapping, I do want to sometimes but I repress my urge because who are you really clapping for, the others sitting there? There aren't that many movies that inspire such clapping urges lately anyway, but most recently there was one, the end of Resident Evil, that was just awesome, and the music, now I wish Marylin Manson would do more scores! Anyway, as a rule of thumb, I go on a weekday, at least 3-4 days after the movie is released, maybe even a week and a half later, latest showing, and sit close, 4th and 5th rows are my favourite, then even if they all get up and then stand there because the movie is not over yet, they're all behind and don't bother me. Also, I notice that people who are staying to watch the credits are usually alone. I have only one friend who doesn't have a damn needle poked in his ass every time credits begin, so I go either with him, or alone and enjoy it tremendously. |

And the truth of the matter about credits is they already run most of them in the beginning of the movie. As far as clapping, why SHOULD we clap? WHO is going to hear it? This isn't live action here. |

As a rule I always stay for the end credits, unless the movie sucked.

I almost always stay during the end credits. I don't know if it is about paying respect, more than it just seems awkward to leave while the music is playing and keeping the flow of the film. I hate turning off a DVD or leaving as the credits are still going, and I only do it if an annoying song is playing.
Thats why I like original scores playing during the credits rather than a song they stuck in so they could stick in another marketing tie in and sell another soundtrack. But now I'm just going off topic. ![]() And I also hate it when people start getting up and moving out before the credits are even starting. I mean, do so many people in the theater have an urgent meeting or doctor appointment scheduled for right after the show? Oh yeah, I also hate it when people clap at the end of a film. Unless the movie was just mind blowingly phenomenal or you are seeing a special screening with members of the cast/crew present, there isn't really all that much purpose to banging your hands together at the end of a film. |

I almost always stay through the credits, since I find that helps the film sink in a bit better then when you rush out. Also, I hate having to deal with the huge crowds of people as they all rush out of the theatre, they are little ape-men rushing to the door like the building is going to collapse or something!
Also, I do, on occasion, clap at the end of a great film. The last time I did it was at The Royal Tenenbaums; both times I saw it I gave it a bit of a hand of applause with the help of the people I saw it with. Its just a way to show mild appreciation for the film, even if no one that worked on it is even within 1000 miles of where I saw it. |

I try and stay through the credits, as you never know if there is going to be a tidbit at the end or not.
I clapped at the end of Independance day... j

For some reason, I rarely clap at anything, even if everyone else is and a round of applause is absolutely necessary (or perhaps even required). I don't really know why it is, I just feel weird doing it.
When I went to see Panic Room last night though, there was this guy behind me that would clap RIGHT in my ear whenever anything happened on screen that he approved of. I know it's bitchy of me to complain about that, but it really scared the hell out of me a couple times. Also, he was a seat-kicker, so I will show him no mercy! |

Credits: yes, almost always. The only exceptions are when I'm seeing movies with some of my lesser-educated friends (
) who want to skip out early. I like the credits. I think they're interesting. Not so much the who, but the what. It's interesting to see the different people that it takes to make a movie.Clapping: not usually. As has been said, who are you clapping for? But sometimes, a movie experience is so compelling that just about everybody in the theater starts to clap, and I think that's cool. (Monsters, Inc. was the last time this happened for me.) |

I tend to stay for the credits if....
-The main song of the soundtrack (that I like) is playing during the end credits. -Bloopers & Outtakes are being shown. -Or if I've read there is a surprise or added ending AFTER the credits. Other than that, I "jet"! As for clapping, I'll clap if the ending leaves me "pumped" (others in the audience tend to do the same). Movies I recall the whole audience and myself applauding to were the 1st Blade, Independence Day and, even though its been awhile, I recall the applaud at the end of the original Back To The Future! I probably missed some others, but I can't recall! Can anyone truly bring themselves to applaud at the end of Titanic after seeing it the 1st time? Truly a masterpiece...but think about it!

Has FERRIS BUELLER taught us nothing?
I always sit through the credits. (Unless of course the movie was extra long and the soda extra large...)
Think of all the great stuff you miss if you bail quickly- Mr. Rooney hitching a ride on the bus in Ferris Bueller, three more plot twists in Wild Things, all the outtakes in a Jackie Chan movie (a device he stole from Burt Reynolds when he worked on Cannonball Run), the hidden joke credits in Airplane (Worst boy- Adolph Hitler), and so on... I too, sit through the credits as a matter of respect to all the technicians and behind the scenes folks. Also, I'm geeky enough to want to see what effects houses worked on a film, what songs were in it, etc... |

If I enjoyed the movie, I'll stay for the credits. I used to bolt like everyone else, but my brother "taught" me that if I enjoyed the movei the LEAST I could do was see who contributed to making the movie out of respect for their efforts.
I've stayed for the credits of every movie I like ever since..... Peace......

I don't usually do so. If it's a cartoon and I want to figure who played so-n-so I will though.
But it really annoys me when people get up BEFORE the credits roll. This weekend, I went to Lord of the Rings, and people were getting up before the preview. And I don't usually clap, unless the whole auditorium claps, and then I might be a sheep and follow along.

I like to watch the credits. But, don't usually, becuase my wife loses her patience with it.
I don't clap. Like others have said, who am I clapping for? there ain't no one there that worked on it.

I usually do prefer to stay through the credits when possible. Usually the cleaning staff makes you feel like you need to leave THEN (since they've turned on the lights anyway and are standing there looking at you). But, last Saturday in particular, went to see Panic Room, but the friends I was with were on a tight schedule and just had enough time to see the movie. So, when the credits started, we left and said our goodbyes for the night. I'm planning on seeing it again at Subgirl's theatre this next Sunday and I'll see if there's anything I missed!

I don't usually stick around for the credits except when I'm trying to figure out who was that guy......you know the one you recognize but can't place. Your face is familiar, but I don't know where to put it.
As far as clapping goes, sometimes. I believe it was Walking Tall with Joe Don Baker that revived clapping and cheering after movies around 1972. It caused a standing ovation that lasted a full 2 minutes. Since then it's been only the ones that are extremely good or make a statement that everybody identifies with. I think most clapped after Star Wars in 1977.

I always stay until after the credits are over. The only time I didn't was when I walked out in the middle of EdTV.
