Funny DVD vs VHS Link from 2001

I just got this in email.

This is a time waster only.

http://www.adequacy.org/stories/2001...12921.289.html

Interesting read. Article is "DVD Versus VHS: The Surprising Truth" from 2001. I'd be curious to see what the authors opinions are now.

Also, there is a reader reply section, some of those responses (also 2001-2002-ish) are a riot.

Sadly most of the article without all the technical stuff within describes someone i use to work with. He claimed everything in the article to me about VHS over DVD. It wasn't until about a year ago today that e finally bought the inferior DVD machine. Thankfully he doesn't work at the theater anymore and last time i did see him there he had bought about 6 dvd movies. Still he said they were ok but not better then VHS.

Hell i still see them in Wal-Mart stores. A grandmother was out buying movies with her daughter and kids. She went to buy a dvd kids movie for the grand kids and the mother said "Why are you getting that? You know they aren't allowe din the house. The kids will just ruin them easily" and of all people the grandmother said "They are better then the tapes the kids keep taping over" Still she lost the battle with her daughter and didn't buy anything as they didn't have the VHS copy of the movie or anything really.

That was hilarious! It's amazing how text from only 4 years ago, seems like the stone age. Everything in that article reads as stupid as justifications for women not being able to vote. I'd love to know what this guys stance on DVD is these days.

WOW!, how long 4 years must seem. By 2001 I had already switched to dvds because of the space issue and the fact that they did look better. We should track down this author for an update. Considering now that hdtvs are becoming more and more wide spread and no stores even sell vhs anymore. He'll probably say that the stores are being given big money by hollywood to phase out vhs to make way for more expensive dvds. Oh man, that was my good laugh for the day.
