Amazon.com boycott

For those who don't know, I'd just like to mention that some people are boycotting amazon.com, because of their recent patent practices.

You can find more information at this address:
http://www.noamazon.com/

I encourage you to read the information at that site (click "Find out how you can help" for an explanation of why it matters), and decide whether you want to support the boycott and buy your DVDs from DVD Express, Reel, or some other store.

(BTW, it would be cool if Pete linked to this in the editorial

Ooops, after posting that I found another site which also has information (including the amount of business Amazon have so far lost as a result of the boycott).
http://nowebpatents.org/

Also, I'm not preaching here, if you don't think it's an important issue then go ahead and buy from amazon, I just think everyone should at least be aware of the issue.

I already buy all my books at Powell's, but I live in Portland, so it makes it a bit easier.

I don't think I've ever purchased a DVD from Amazon. If they really think they can patent ordering stuff off the internet, they're off their rocker, and deserve to be boycotted.

Taxi you bum!!
I have relatives in Portland, and whenever my family and I go up there to visit them we always make at least one if not multiple visits to Powell's. Great store. Very good selection and good prices. I was last up there during Thanksgiving and saw the new remodeling they've done. Looks pretty good. My only complaint about the place is the parking garage. Ouch.

I always park on the street, which usually means a bit of a walk, but I like that part of town, so I don't mind it too much. Powells is an amazing experience. I heard the other day that some bookstore in New York is the biggest in the world. I'm sure Powell's isn't far behind.

Hey, you can always order from Powell's website.
Another knock against Amazon for Washington state residents wanting to order DVD's? Sales Tax! Blah!
But, on the other hand, they are pretty usefull for constructing massive DVD wish lists
Man, do we have too much free time, or what?!
