Snapper cases

I was just looking through my collection of DVDs, and I noticed some of my titles, mainly those from Warner, were starting to look dog-eared - the cardboard snapper cases were falling apart! You'd think it would just be on the titles I've watched frequently, like Full Metal Jacket, but it isn't confined just to that...L.A. Confidential, Boogie Nights, Dr. No (first MGM edition) and others, which I've barely touched more than a few times, were in a similar condition! Have any of you guys had any similar problems with snappers? I know that Warner, Image and New Line, and maybe another that I've forgotten, all use snappers. Does anybody else like, really wanna get rid of those things???? Maybe I'me being a tad bit obsessive, but it just annoyed me a second ago. Okay, I'm done.

I think it's utterly rediculous that Warner insists on giving us little cardboard boxes for our DVDs. People want keep cases, everyone else is using keep cases. GET WITH TEH PROGRAM!!

Warner has an invested interest in the snapper case, therefore unless that company goes under, they will continue to put their releases in them.

What are you doing to your snappers to cause them to get "dog eared"?
I've had snappers since the first dvd I bought three years ago & it still looks pretty good.
Mind you I don't really love the design of the spindle all that much but the covers look nice.

From my own experience, simply the opening and closing after a while wears out the cardboard. With titles such as The Matrix or Spawn where the covers are several folded pages and significantly heavier, this seems to be happening faster.

Clor,
Not on mine.
And I have Albums (gate fold as well) over 20 & 30 even 40 years old that still look good. I don't know why you guys are opening & closing your covers so much for but.......stop or you'll go blind!

Really though I'm just saying that mine don't look like this at all,I don't know why yours do.

None of mine are actually dog-eared yet. Any friend of mine could tell you how anal I am when it comes to keeping these things neat n tidy (including a "how to remove it" instruction for the alphas if I ever lend them out ) But I have noticed that the creases are becoming a little frayed internally...nothing any normal person would notice, but oh well.

Sounds to me like we need to find a way to convert the heavy cardboard of the snapper case cover art into the thinner slip-inserts of the keep cases and buy blank Amaray cases as replacements. Any thoughts as to the feasibility of this?

gee Clor you are anal aren't you?
I'm sorry if my little joke about humoring someone who has an obsessive compulsive disorder ("nothing any normal person would notice"GET THE NET!") went over your head.

It was meant in good humor my friend.

The last post could have had all of the same effectiveness without the "gee Clor you are anal aren't you?" line.

Remember, no personal attacks, and I really can't think of many people who like to be called anal

Chromy, I was about to post a similar response, but then I saw that Clortho called himself anal a few posts up above. I think dougpirana was just running with that.

Thank you Taxi, that is what I was trying to do, but I sometimes think everyone see's things exactly the same odd ball way I do which they naturally do not.
Oh well.
