happy about VOD problems for Blockbuster
I suspect someday VOD will exist and I might even use it. I might even find it really convenient and really like it. But I'm thrilled as can be that VOD is being delayed by the studios unwilling to provide content to Blockbuster. I hope VOD becomes a big success for someone besides Blockbuster and forces those pricks out of business. My hatred of Blockbuster is surpassed only by my hatred of Divx (in the video world, leaving aside mass murderers, republicans, etc.)

So I'm guessing VOD = Video On Demand?
I'm in agreement here. I HATE and I mean HATE Blockbuster with a passion. Anything that might potentialy cause their downfall makes me happy. But since they have a rather large parent company (Viacom) we will probably have to come to terms with the fact that they are going to be around for awhile. It seems all Viacom companies just blow. Paramont owns a local amusement park in my area (Paramont's Great America) and that has got to be the WORST amusement park in the country. ------------------ "They're us....we're them!" -Damian [This message has been edited by Damian (edited 03-28-2001).] |

Thrilled with BB's demise in the VOD industry. I have an embryonic form of VOD at my home, and its kind of cool, not a whole lot of movies, but almost all the new releases and some classics (Caddyshack, if you consider that a classic, among others) were available.
You really have to keep in mind how long they permit you to watch the movie though, its a little more convienent to pay a late charge than have to order the movie again. Yes in the seventies both parks use to belong to the Marriot company. Then I think around the mid eighties they bailed on the amusement parks and the one in Santa Clara California was then bought by Paramount. Scenes from the FANTASTIC Beverly Hills Cop III were filmed at Great American in Santa Clara. It was the (duh) amusement park Axel visits and does his thing at. ------------------ "They're us....we're them!" -Damian |
