My first lost DVD from Netflix.com....

So I reported my first "lost" Netflix DVD today.... I requested another copy of that DVD be sent so I could watch it. I'm guessing the mailman delivered the DVD to the wrong house.

So, am I now considered I "loser" in the eyes of Netflix? Has anyone else reported lost DVDs?

Peace.....

Loser.

Actually, I've never lost (or had the mail person drop it off at a wrong house) a NetFlix movie, but I have heard it happening to others. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

NetFlix should really come up with a tracking system for the stuff they mail.

Overall, how is Netflix?

I've been tempted to try it out, but I haven't heard much about it.

Darth;

It kind of depends on where you live. If you're on the West Coast, I think NetFlix is probably a good deal as shipping won't be too slow.

I live in Michigan and NetFlix just doesn't work for me. It takes WAY too long (for me at least) for DVDs to make "the round trip" (ie., ordering from their site, processing, mailing to me, watching, mailing back to NetFlix and then check in). At the rate it takes for DVDs to make that circuit, it ends up not being very cost effective for me.

BUT, some people don't mind.

Give it a try. It's only about $20 for a month. If ya don't dig it, just bail. They do have a decent selection of "hard" to find titles and many people use NetFlix not for the most popular titles, but for obscure DVDs by their fav. directors/actors.

Hope that helps.

Selection and convenience are the only benefits... I live about 30 mi North of San Jose and my shipping turnaround time has doubled in the last 3 weeks... I can't maximize the number of movies I can rent in one month because the shipping is SOOOOO SLOWWW now.... For a while, they would receive a DVD from me, and ship out the next one the same day.

Now it takes on full day (if not longer) for the next DVD to be shipped.....

Still, I keep my account with them due to selection and convenience..... The biggest "problem" is I am NOT in control of which DVD I get next.... I can prioritize my queue, but I can't guarantee the order in which I will receive the DVDs.....

Peace.....

When I was using NEtflix I had two movies that never got to me and they were both DISNEY movies. I promptly called the postmaster to let him know but I believe something underhanded occured during the mailing because it was two consecutive Disney movies. MAybe because of the cost of these DVD's or the fact that they were for kids made them more desirable to theives.

My experience was pretty good. I live in the Boston area. I did take a week or so to get the discs (all were immediately available). The turnaround seemed quick enough.
I only did the free intro offer, and cancelled after I returned the last of the three free rentals.
The one thing I did NOT like is that you have to CALL them to cancel your account.
They go ahead and charge $20, even for the free period. When you cancel, they credit you that amount. So, it worked out mainly ok, just a bit of a hassle with calling them, since as expected, they try to talk you into continuing with them.

Yes, they do have unusual titles you may not find in some video stores. It's best to rent only those and really get your money's worth. Once they start charging, you are paying $6+ for each rental, that's not cheap. But I do understand the convenience factor for people in outlying areas.
