Deep Discount DVD experiences
Has anyone conducted business with this online DVD retailer?
I just "moved" my pre-orders for Star Wars, Godfather, Hannibal, and Silence/Lambs from DVD Empire over to Deep Discount DVD. Man they're got some GREAT prices. No tax! Free shipping (for standard shipping)! Would anyone recommend AGAINST buying from this place? I've also placed an order for 2 copies of The Matrix at 16.25 ea. so we'll see how that goes...... DVD Empire has a better selection (at this point),however. Any input about this place would be appreciated. Peace...... ------------------ My DVD Profiler List |

I answered my own question: stay away from DeepDiscountDVD......
My saga from my DVD Empire experience continues....... I place an order with DeepDiscountDVD and have a problem and record the error info. I try to place the order again and it works just fine. At the BOTTOM of the shopping cart are the SQL statements used to process the order. I place the order and at the bottom of the checkout page, there are MORE SQL statements used to process the order. I save all of this info and e-mail it to DeepDiscountDVD customer service. I get and automated reply from them. Later, I get a message from *Critics' Choice Video* asking me what my problems were, what browser I was using, etc. I could NOT understand why they were asking so many questions since my original e-mail had ALL of the info in it. I decide to call the 800 number in hte note from Critics' Choice and sure enough it was Critics' Choice and NOT DeepDiscountDVD. I call DeepDiscountDVD (totally different 800 number) and ask them why Critics' Choice Video is asking ME questions about a problem I reported to DEEPDISCOUNTDVD!!!!!! The e-mail message from Critics' Choice even had the tracking number issued from the DeepDiscountDVD customer service incident tracking system!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I expecting too much? Is it too much to ask that online retailers have their systems "working" before they deploy them? I guess the moral of the story is to stick with MAJOR sites, like Amazon.com, and forget the rest....... I guess DVD Empire was not so bad after all.... Peace..... |

Anyone else had trouble with deepdiscountdvd? I've just recently discovered them and they do have great prices (and free shipping!). I've only ordered one DVD from them so far, but, no trouble. I'll probably continue to use them unless others have had similiarly bad experiences (as tomdkat).
