Remember when they were Laserviews? I recall someone from Image (or was it Laserviews) blasting criticism that they weren't updating their News section fast enough. Image is their own company and they were doing us a service by reporting on ALL studio releases.

How many of you looked forward to seeing the DVD News updates each week? Then were disappointed when a week went by and there was no update?

Today they redesigned their web site and it looks like they've relegated all non-Image title information strictly to the Search feature. All the Image stuff are still very accesible.

Gone are the News updates, the Announcements, the DTS pages, etc. Unless I missed them and they're hidden somewhere.

They have a Dealers section where a password is required.

Oh well, another piece of history is gone.

Sorry, DVD Web sites (like this one), but Image had the best release news, regardless of their plain site design. The main thing was information and they had it. Now, it's time to step up to the plate to deliver a well-organized release schedule listing. Who'll be #1 now???

Has anyone found a good replacement for the now non-existant Announcements page? That and DVD File were always a first stop in the mornings for me. Great resource for knowing what to pre-order and when.

The best thing to do is on Fridays, go to their Advanced Search page. In the "Upcoming Releases" section, type in today's date and 12/31/01 in the end date and just look at the releases for the rest of the year.

Other than that, you'll just have to look at etailers' release listings.

Less browsing time for me, at least.
