Pioneer 414

I just got the Pioneer 414 player this weekend. I like it except for one thing. I can hear the disc spinning, its pretty lound and very annoying. Does anyone else have this problem with this player?

I have the same player and it doesn't make any noises, unless you are really close and then you can hear the disc spinning. What kind of noise is it, a rattling noise or a whirring noise?

Sammy,

You wouldn't happen to be from around Indianapolis, would you?

My 414 motor also makes a bit of noise, but my Sony Wega's stand has glass doors that blocks the whir quite nicely.

Why yes I am from Indianapolis, how did you guess?

It makes a harsh whirring sound, like maybe the spindle isn't oiled well. My couch is about 12 feet from the player and its lound enough to hear it from there.

Take it back to the store and get a replacement. I've been hugely pleased with my 414 and had no problems along the lines that you describe, so it just may be a defective unit.

Has anyone had a problem removing the multi angle icon. I put in Mallrats and there was a small white camera on screen. I then found out that you can turn the icon off from the OSD menu. According to the manual there are supposed to be 4 fields you can change. The last is multi angle. Guess whose machine only offers 3 choices. I have a call in with the tech people and I am waiting for a callback.
