JVC XV-501 & Cruel Intentions......HELP !!!

I experienced a problem discussed at DVD.com where after trying to play 'Cruel Intentions' on my machine, no other discs will work.

I have emailed JVC and have not heard a response yet. Has anyone else on this forum had this problem? How did you/they handle it?

Any help Would be appreciated.
Thanks.

=============

The info from DVD.com is as follows:

" The following JVC DVD players have give a parenatl control error upon playback of Cruel Intentions: XV-d2000bk, 501, and some 7-series models. Why is that?
DIAGNOSIS:This issue has been reported by many consumers. Cruel Intentions will not playback on the XV-d2000bk models, the 501s, and some 7xx series players. Yet unknown if it affects other JVC model players. Cruel Intentions gives a parental control lock error, while appareantly affecting the JVC players' firmware. This causes playback issues with other titles that used to playback correctly. If you own a JVC model player, approach this title with caution. JVC has been made aware of this issue. Encourage anyone who has a JVC model player to contact JVC and report the issue. The more reports come in, the quicker JVC will respond. Hopefully a fix or workaround will be forthcoming. JVC email support can be found at http://www.jvcservice.com/email.htm for the U.S., visit http://www.jvc-victor.co.jp/english/global-e.html for a list of all country regional JVC suport sites.

JVC Finally Replied & here's the fix for anyone with this problem:

"In reference to your email regarding your DVD player, this reset procedure, in most cases this will correct your lock up and reset your DVD player.

a. Make sure there is no disc on the tray.

b. While pressing the "On Screen" and "Title" keys on the DVD player
simultaneously, unplug the power cord and connect it back to the outlet.

c. "TEST JC3 or JC2" is displayed on the front panel.

d. Press "ENTER" key to start initialization of EEPROM. When
indicator "RESUME" lights, initialization is complete.

e. Hit the power button and the unit should turn off hit it again to
turn it back on. (the reset procedure is complete and the DVD should be
working normally now.

As far as the Cruel Intentions problem, this would be the onlyreported disc to create this problem. (It also seems that after it is played it will cause other discs to react the same way.)

It is most likely a software malfunction with that particular movie title. It might benefit you to return the disc back to the dealer to see if they have any further information about this situation."

Wow, that is really serious. Looks like Columbia/TriStar needs to do a little bit more testing before they release their titles.
