Sony Lip Sync Glitch

Hi there,
I've recently bought a SONY DVP-S725D and is rather concerned after reading posts regarding lip sync problems.
I've watched The Game and Enemy of the State and fortunately I've not had the infamous lip sync problem reported by some on this forum.
Could someone please describe the problem in more detail (specific titles, chapters or conditions) as the lip sync problem is not apparent with my player as I'd like to confirm whether it has the same problem.
Many thanks in advance,
Worried.

From what I understand, the problem is isolated in earlier players. We're talking March, April..maybe even May production batches. Can anyone confirm ?

I believe Sony upgraded the firmware to compensate. On some models, the upgrade is indicated by a red dot on the box.

I guess the best thing to do is run discs from different studios. And run different types of discs. I don't recall the problem being reported on the 725.

Good luck.

I bought my 530 player in May and have now just started to get lip sync errors. No DD decoder used just straight to TV.

I just want to get it resolved. I have heard nothing on what Sony is planning to do.

Was watching "Bird On A Wire" when it happened. Wife's DVD, not mine.

I noticed lip sync probs this weekend watching my NetFlix rental of Baby Genius on my sony dvp-c600D. I paused it, rewinded a bit, and the problem corrected itself.

Right now, I'm really pi**ed off.
Sony here in New Zealand contacted Japan, and as far as Japan is concerned, there is nothing wrong with the players.
As far as Sony America and the database of people wanting the fix, it was the technical maanager's opinion that Sony America had just done that because the problem is created by people ringing up and saying that there is a problem. It is Sony NZ's position that the fault is with the discs, not the players.
So he will not fix my player, nor acknowledge that there is anything wrong with it.

I'm starting to see red. A lot of red....
