Newbie Question: Anamorphic? - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Hello, I'm new to the DVD world and lingo. I've been checking out some awesome websites about DVDs, but none of them tell what Anamorphic widescreen is. Anyone kind enough to give a newbie a hint?
