Erroneous Release Dates
Star Trek Volume 6. Supposed to be released
on Dec. 31, 1999. Abruptly bumped to Feb. 22, 2000. If it's been delayed once, what's to stop it from being delayed again and again? Lord of the Flies- Criterion Collection. Already delayed twice, moved from October, 1999 to December, 1999 and then to Jan. 11, 2000. And now it's delayed again and given an unknown release status. Beany and Cecil. Delayed countless times. Doctor Zhivago and The Omega Man. Supposed to have been released last fall, now permanently on unknown status. Just what is going on here? Don't these companies care that they're raising and quashing consumer expectations? Already, I've lost my patience with Criterion and will not purchase Lord of the Flies if Criterion ever deigns to release it. Now, I'm so frustrated with the lack of announced releases of desired titles and the delays in releases of titles that I'm abandoning DVD for the next year or two. Maybe by then, the studios will have seen fit to step up DVD releases both in scope and in promptness. |

Yeah, I've been going through the same thing with Ultimate DVD Platinum, although not to the same extreme as the titles you've listed.
It is annoying. It's the same for copmputer video games. They talk about how cool they are for years, but you never see them on the shelves. (Anybody remember when Unreal was first announced?) |
