Recordable video NOW for my DVD player?
Is it possible for a DVD player to decode MPEG1 video? I wonder if I could transfer MPEG trailers I have downloaded off of the internet to CD-RW (my Panasonic will recognize those) and play them on my DVD player. Just a thought.

Before your question can be answered, you will need to answer a couple of questions:
1) Does your DVD player claim compatibility with VideoCDs? 2) Do you have sofwtare that can create VideoCDs (which is more than just copying MPEG-1 files to a CD)? This is a tricky subject. Many DVD players can play VideoCDs, which use MPEG-1 encoding. And some can play CD-R and/or CD-RW media, as you indicate your player can. So, if you want to take those trailers, and burn a VideoCD, and you really do have a DVD player that can play CD-RW media, and is compatible with VideoCDs, then you are all set. However, if you answered no to either of the questions above, you are out of luck, my friend. Robo |

He also may be referring to a mini-DVD -- a CD-R that's burned as a "Small DVD" image that some DVD players will pick up and use as if it were a DVD.
To do that you need to use NERO or some other UDF-writing program, and it tends to only work on a few home players (prolly from the lack of CSS) -- Rob |
